Solution:

1). Total number of employees in Company N = 700
Percentage of Science graduate employees = [100 – (31 + 40)] = 29%
Now, the percentage difference between Arts graduate employees and Science graduate employees =(40 – 29)% = 11%
11% of 700 = 77
Difference = 77
Answer: c)

2). The percentage of Arts graduate employees in Company Q = (100 - 35 – 50)% = 15%
Now, the percentage of Arts graduate employees and Commerce graduate employees = 50 + 15 = 65%
Average of Commerce and Arts graduate employees = 312
The total number of employees in Commerce and Arts = 2 × 312
Let the total employees in Company Q be x.
Then, 65% of x = 2 ×312
x = (2 × 312 × 100) / 65 = 960
Answer: b)

3). The percentage of Commerce graduate employees and Arts graduate employees in Company M = (100 - 32)% = 68%
Now, the percentage of Arts graduate employees = (68 × 7) / 17 = 28%
The percentage of Commerce graduate employees = (68 × 10) / 17 = 40%
The number of Arts graduate employees in Company M = (1050 × 28) / 100 = 294
Answer: a)

4). The number of employees in Company N in December 2012 = 700
The number of employees in Company N in December 2013 = (700 × 120) / 100 = 840
Number of Science graduate employees in Company N in December 2013 = (20 × 840) / 100 = 168
Answer: e)

5). The percentage of Arts employees in Company O = (100 – 30 - 30) = 40%
The percentage different between Arts graduate employees in Company O and P = (40 - 20) = 20%
Now, let the number of employees in Company O be x.
Then, x × 20% = 180
x = (180 × 100) / 20 = 900
Answer: d)

6). Reqd average = (120 + 140 + 180 + 240) / 4 = (680 / 4) = 170
Answer: d)

7). The number of watches sold in Town Y in April = 210
The number of watches sold in Town X in April = 150
Reqd % = [(210 - 150) / 150] × 100 = (60 / 150) × 100 = 40%
Answer: b)

8). Reqd % increase = [(230 - 120) / 120] × 100 = (110 / 120) × 100
= (110 × 5) / 6 = 275 / 3 = 91 2/3%
Answer: d)

9). The number of watches sold in Town X in July = (180 × 110) / 100 = 198
The number of watches sold in Town X in January = 120
Reqd ratio = (198 / 120) = (33 / 20) = 33 : 20
Answer: e)

10). Reqd difference = (240 + 180) – (180 + 150) = 420 – 330 = 90
Answer: b)
