Solution:

Direction (Q. 1-5)
1). Total no.of students for course D = 35% of 1200
(35 / 100) × 1200 = 420
No. of girl students for course D = 30% of 800
(30 / 100) × 800 = 240
No. of boy students for course D =  420 – 240 = 180
Reqd ratio = 180 : 240 = 3 : 4
Answer: a)

2). Total no.of students for course A = 20% of 1200 = 240
No. of girl students for course A = 30% of 800 = 240
No. of boy students for course A =  240 – 240 = 0
Total no.of students for course B = 15% of 1200 = 180
No. of girl students for course B = 10% of 800 = 80
No. of boy students for course B = 180 - 80 = 100
Total no.of students for course C = 5% of 1200 =60
No. of girl students for course C = 2% of 800 = 16
No. of boy students for course C = 60 – 16 = 44
Total no.of students for course D = 35% of 1200 = 420
No. of girl students for course D = 30% of 800 = 240
No. of boy students for course D = 420 – 240 = 180
Total no.of students for course E = 12% of 1200 =144
No. of girl students for course E = 14% of 800 = 112
No. of boy students for course E =  144 – 112 = 32
Total no.of students for course F = 13% of 1200 = 156
No. of girl students for course F = 14% of 800 = 112
No. of boy students for course F =  156 – 112 = 44
Answer: c)

3). No. of girls for course E = 14% of 800 = 112
Total no. of students for course E = 12% of 1200 = 144
No. of boys for course E = 144 – 112 = 32
Reqd more% = [(112 – 32) / 32] × 100 = 250%
Answer: a)

4). Maximum no. of boys for difference courses are
A = 0;  B = 100;  C = 44;  D = 180;  E = 32;  F = 44
