Solutions:
1). e) Let , the share of = x, Then the share of B = (1301 - x)
Therefore, x[1 + 4/100]7 = (1301 – x)[1 + 4/100]9
=>x/(1301 – x) = [1 + 4/100]2 = [26/25 x 26/25]
625x = 676 x (1301 – x)
1301x = 676 x 1301 => x = 676

2). c) Let the average after 17th inning = x , Then, average after 16th inning = (x-3)
∴16(x-3) + 87 = 17x, 16x – 48 + 87 = 17x, X= 39

3). c) Let the speed of goods train be x km/hr.Then, (32+x)*(5/18)=250/15⇒ x= 28 km/hr

4). d) A + B + C = 96. Let C = x. Then, A = x + 6.x + 6 + B + X = 96 so B + 2x = 90
Now B + C = 56 so B+ X = 56x = (90 - 56) = 34.B+2x = 90 => B = (90 - 68) = 22.
Thus both P and Q are needed.

5). b) 15 out of the first 20 questions answered correctly
remaining questions: n-20 out of which (n-20)/3 is answered correctly
[(n-20)/3 + 15] = (50 / 100) * n
=> [(n-20 + 45)/3] = n / 2
=> [(n + 25)/3] = n / 2
=> 2(n + 25) = 3n => n = 50
