Solution:

1). Suppose, 50 paise coins = 2 x and Rs. 1 coins = x both are Rs. 26, then number of Rs. 1 coins will be 13 and number of 50 paise coins will be 26. Remaining amount = 50 – 26 = Rs . 24
Now, if Rs. 5 coins are x in number, then Rs. 2 coins will be x + 5. Then, with the help of hit and trial method, Rs. 5 coins will be Rs. 2 in number and 2 coins will be x + 5 = 2 + 5 = 7 in number

2). Let the ages of Mira, Tina and Sania be 6x, 4x and 7x respectively
Then, 6x + 4x + 7x = 34
17x = 34
X = 2 yr
Hence Sania’s age = 7x = 7 × 2 = 14 yr

3). Let x : 1/27 : : 3/5 : 3/40
Then x × 3 / 40 = (1 / 27) × (3 / 5)
x = (1 / 27) × (3 / 5) × (40 × 3) = 8 / 27

4). Let the two numbers be x and y
Then, 3x3 = 7y
x3 / y = 7 / 3
Thus, the given data is insufficient

5). Let the two numbers be x and y
Then,
(40 / 100) × x = (3 / 4) × y
x / y = 15 / 8
x : y = 15 : 8

6). Let the ages of Ram, Rohan and Raj be 3x, 4x and 5x, respectively
Then, (3x + 4x + 5x) / 3 = 28
4x = 28
x = 28 / 4 = 7 yr
So, the present age of Ram and Rohan together
= 3x + 4x = 7x
=7 × 7 = 49 yr
Hence, the sum of the ages of Ram and Rohan together after 5 yr
= 49 + 5 × 2 = 49 + 10 = 59 yr

7). Let the earnings of A and B be 3x and 5x
Then, new ratio of earnings = (120 / 100) × 3x : (80 / 100) × 5x = 9 : 10
Thus, the given data is insufficient to find A’s earning

8). Let the shares of A, B, C and D be 2x, 7x, 11x and 12x, respectively
Then, B + D = (7x + 12x) = 19x = 6650
x = 350
Now, D – A = (12x – 2x) = 10x
= 10 × 350 = RS. 3500

9). Let the number of 25 paise and 50 paise coins be x
Then, sum of their values
= (50x / 100) + (25x / 100) = Rs. 45
75x / 100 = 45
x = 60

10). The value of 25 paise coins = Rs. 5
i.e 20 coins
The value of 50 paise coins = Rs. 8
i.e 16 coins
The value of Rs. 1 coins = Rs. 20
i.e 20 coins
The ratio of coins = 20 : 16 : 20 = 5 : 4 : 5
Hence, the number of 25 paise coins = (5 / 14) × 140 = 50 coins
