1). C) Let the first number be x.
The sum of 2nd and 3rd number = 7x/2
The sum of 4th and 5th number = 23x/4
Therefore, Average = [x + 7x/2 + 23x/4]/5 = 41 => x = 20
Thus average of 2nd and 5th numbers = [70 + 115]/4 = 46.25

CI = 12000[(1 + 8/100)2 – 1] => CI = 12000 × 104/625 = Rs.1996.8
