Solutions:
1). C) Speed of the stream = 0.5 kmph.
Speed of the first man upstream = 10/5 = 2 kmph.
Speed of the second man downstream = 10/3 = 3.33 kmph.
So, actual speed of the first man = 2 + 0.5 = 2.5 kmph.
Actual speed of the second man = 3.33 - 0.5 = 2.83 kmph.
Difference in speed = 3.33 - 2.5 = 1.33 kmph.
2). E) Work rate of X = 100/8 = 12.5% per day.
Work rate of Y = 100/10 = 10% per day.
Work rate of Z = 100/12 = 8.33% per day.
Work completed in two days,= 12.5 *2 + 10 *2 = 45%.
Work left = 55%.
Work rate of (Y + Z) = 10 + 8.33 = 18.33% per day.
Time required to finish the left work = 55/ 18.33 = 3 days.
3). C) Total Distance = 630 km.
Let Q travels M km to meet P.
P need to travel = (630 - M) km.
Speed of the Q = 120 kmph.
Speed of the P = 90 kmph.
Time taken by Q to reach meeting point = Time taken by P to reach same place
M/120 = (630 -M)/90
90 M = 120 * 630 - 120 M
90 M + 120 M = 120 * 630
210 M = 120 * 630
M = 360 Km.
So, Q travels 360 km and P travels (630 - 360) = 270 km to meet.
Thus, Q travels = 360 - 270 = 90 km more than P.
4). B) Total savings = Rs. 84100.
Wife got = 50% of 84100 = Rs. 42050.
Let P1 to A and P2 B as principals.
P1[1+5/100]3 = P2[1+5/100]5
P1/P2 = [1+5/100]2 => P1/P2 = 441/440
P2 = 440/881 * 42050
P2 = 20,000.
So, B got Rs. 20,000.
5). D) CP of 200 kg of mixture = Re (80 * 13.50) + (120 * 16) = Re 3000
SP = 116% of Re 3000 = Re (116/100)*3000 = Re 3480
Therefore, Rate of SP = Re 3480/200 = Re 17.40/kg
6). E)

7). A)

8). D)

9). B)
