Solutions:

1). d) According to question, total number of seats= 1 grandfather + 5 sons and daughters + 8 grandchildren = 14
The grandchildren occupy the 4 seats on either side of the table in 8P4 × 4! = 8!
The grandfather a seat in 4 ways (i.e., S6, S7, S8, S9). And, the remaining seats can be occupied in 5! = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 = 120 ways (5 seat for sons and daughters)
Hence, the total number of required ways= 8! × 480 = 19353600

3). c)  Let the total cost of the consignment be x.
∴ (3x/5 x 135/100 + 2x/5 x 75/100) - x = 715
(81x/100 + 30x/100) - x = 715
111x/100 - x = 715
∴ 11x = 715 x 100
∴ x = 6500

4). a) Perimeter of square = 2 x Perimeter of rectangle = 2 x 2 (8+7) = 60 cm.
Therefore, Side of square = 60/4 = 15 cm.
Therefore, Diameter of semi-circle = 15 cm
Therefore, Circumference of semi-cricle = πd/2 + d = 22/7x2 x 15 + 15 = 38.57 cm.

5). d) Work done by a woman in one day is 1/3rd of the work done by a man in one day => 3w = 1m
By question, 18w + 14 m = 20 m
20 m complete the work in 8 days.
in 3 days 3/8 work is done
work remaining = 1 - 3/8 = 5/8
20 m - 1 work - 8 days.
12 m - 5/8 work – (8 x 20)/(12 x 5/8) = 25/8 = 8 1/3 days

(6 – 10):

6). c)
7). d)
8). a)
9). d)

10). c)
