REASONING
Directions (1-6): Study the information given below and answer the given questions.
Six friends A, B, C, D, E and F have three types of vehicles - Alto, Fiat and Nano - and they like three colours - Black, White and Red. Each of them has a car. Only two of them have the same type of cars and only two of them like the same colour.

A and F do not like Alto and Red colour. C and D do not like Fiat and White colour. A and B do not like Fiat. B does not like Nano and Red colour, and C does not like Alto and Red colour. The one who has Fiat, does not like Black colour. E and B do not like White colour.

6). Which two friends have Red cars?
a)   A and B
b)   B and C
c)   D and E
d)   D and F
e)   C and E

7). Which two friends have Fiats?
a)   E and F
b)   D and F
c)   B and E
d)   A and C
e)   E and C

8). Who has a Black Nano?
a)   A
b)   B
c)   C
d)   D
e)   E

9). Which of the following combinations is not true?
a)   B - Black –Alto
b)   E - Red – Nano
c)   D - Red - Alto
d)   C - Black – Nano
e)   None of these

10). Which of the following cars does A own?
a)   Black Alto
b)   Red Fiat
c)   White Alto
d)   White Nano
e)   Black Nano

ENGLISH
Directions (Q. 11-15): Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical error in it. The error, if any, ,will be in one part of the sentence. The number of that part is the answer. If there is no error, the answer is e) i.e. ‘No Error’. (Ignore the errors of punctuation, if any).

11). It was clear from the way a)/ they were behaving b)/ I that they had been c)/ lost their senses d)/ No error e).

12). That boy possess  a)/ three beautiful pens b)/ I but he would not c)/ show them to any one d)/ No error e).

13). A small piece  a)/ of bread is b)/ better than c)/ having nothing to eat d)/ No error e).

14). The gap between interest rates a)/ on five-year government bonds b)/ and on corporate bonds of the same maturity c)/ have widened d)/ No error e).

15). Though I had been a)/ his friend for quite a long time b)/ I refused to help him c)/ because his ill nature d)/ No error e).

1)b   2)a   3)c   4)c   5)c   6)c   7)a   8)c   9)b   10)d  11)c   12)a   13)e   14)d   15)d

SOLUTION:
1). b) A and B together do 20/30 = 2/3 part of the work in 20 days.
Remaining work = 1 – (2/3) = 1/3
:. A alone can do the work in 20 × 3 = 60 days.

2). a) Let investments by A, B and C in the starting of the business be x, 3x and 5x, respectively.
Now, ratio of their profit
= ratio of their investment
= (x × 4 + 2x × 8) : (3x × 4 + (3x/2) × 8) : (5x × 4 + (5x/2) × 8)
= (4x + 16 x) : (12x +12x) : (20x + 20x) à 20 : 24 : 40 = 5 : 6 : 10

3). c) Ratio of the efficiencies of Babu : Asha = 4 : 7
Ratio of the number of days taken by Babu and Asha to complete the job = 7 : 4  (:. E ∝ 1/D)
Also,  28x2 / 11x = 7 à x = 11/4
:. Asha alone will do the work in 4 × (11/4) = 11 days

4). c) Volume of the circular cone = 1/3 (π r2h)
1/3 × (22/7) × 24 × r2 = 1232
r2  = (1232 × 3 × 7) / (22 × 24) = 49
r = 7 cm
curved surface area of cone = πrl = (22/7) × 7 × √(576 + 49)
= 22 × 25 = 550 cm2

5). c) 60% of A = 75% of B à 3A / 5 = 3B / 4à A / B = 5 / 4
Now,                    B = x% of A
x = (B / A) × 100 = (4/5) × 100 = 80%

Directions (Q. 11-15):
11). c) Past Perfect Tense will be used. The structure is: Subject + had + past participle
12). a) ‘That boy possesses’ is the correct usage, as the verb must agree with its subject in number and person.
13). e)
14). d) Replace ‘have’ with ‘has’
15). d) ‘Because of’ is the correct idiomatic form.
