REASONING ABILITY

Directions (6 – 10): Study the given information carefully to answer the given questions:
Eight people Maya, Livya, Eniya, Santhosh, Peter, Kumar, Moni and Krish are sitting in two parallel rows containing four people each. Maya, Livya, Eniya and Santhosh are sitting in row-1 facing north and Peter, Kumar, Moni and Krish are sitting in row-2 facing south (but not necessarily in the same order). Thus, each person sitting in row-1 face another person sitting in row-2. Each of the two rows consists of one Doctor, one Engineer, one Pilot and one Scientist (but not necessarily in the same order).
The Doctor of row-1 sits second to the right of Santhosh. Kumar faces one of the immediate neighbours of Santhosh. Only one person sits between Kumar and the Scientist. The one who faces the Scientist of row-2 is an immediate neighbour of Maya. Only one person sits between Maya and the Pilot. Peter sits second to the right of Krish. Moni does not face Eniya. The Scientist of row-1 faces the Engineer of row-2. Eniya faces one of the immediate neighbours of the Doctor of row-2. The Doctor of row-2 does not sit at any of the extreme ends of the line. Krish is not a Doctor.

6). Which of the following represents the people sitting at extreme ends of both the lines?

Solutions:
1). c)
According to the formula, (M1.D1.T1)/W1 = (M2.D2.T2)/W2
Given M1 = 105, D1 = 25, T1 = 8; W1 = 2/5
Now let the additional members be M2 = 105 + x, T2 = 9; D2 = 25, W2 = 1 – 2/5 = 3/5
On putting the values and solving for x we get x = 35
Therefore, 35 more men are required to complete the work in time.

2). b)
Given, Cost price of 4 apples = Selling price of 3 apple
Profit is one apple cost let it be Rs.1.
Then Profit percentage = 33.33%
And discount = 11.11%
Since CP = 3; SP = 4; MP = 4.5
Profit is double that of discount.
So the percentage point difference = 33.33% - 11.11% = 22.22% point

3). b)
Time taken to meet Bhanu and Manisha = 1080/(60 + 120) = 6h
So, in 6 hours Bhanu covers 360km and this 360 km distance Rani covers in 360/90 = 4h
Hence, Rani leaves Kolkata 2 hours later than Bhanu ie at 8am Rani leaves Kolkata

4). c)
Using Statement, I & II
Speed = 350/12 = 29.16 m/s
Using Statement, II & III
Speed = (350*2)/36=19.45 m/s

5). d)
From Statement I
4800 = P*R*2/100
PR = 240000
From Statement II
Difference = (PR^2)/100^2 =192
R = 8%
From Statement III
2P = P*R*25/100
R = 8%

(6 – 10):

6). c)
7). d)
8). e)
9). c)
10). b)
