Solution:
1). Speed of the stream = 3 kmph
Let the speed of Sharma be x kmph.
According to the question, 36 / x – 3 = 4
x =  36/4 + 3 = 9 kmph
Distance travelled downstream in 6 hours
= 6 × (9 + 3) = 72 km

2). Let the speed of the boat in still water be x kmph.
Then, (x + 4) ×6 = (x – 4) × 8
or, 6x + 24 = 8x – 32
or, x = 28 kmph

3). Let the speed of the man in still water be x kmph.
Then, x + 5 × 2 = x – 5 × 7
or, 2x + 10 – 7x + 35 = 0
or, 5x = 45
or, x = 9

4). Speed of man downstream = 6 / 1.5 kmph = 4 kmph
Speed of man upstream = 6 / 2 = 3 kmph
or, Speed of man = 1 / 2 × (4 +3) kmph
= 3.5 kmph

5). Let the speed of the man in still water be x and the speed of the stream be y.
Downstream speed = x + y
And upstream speed = x – y
Now, x + y = 135 / 9 = 15 ... (i)
And x –y = 135 / 15 = 9 ... (ii)
Solving equation (i) and (ii), we get
x = 12 kmph, y = 3 kmph

6). Total distance travel by Dravid = 1500km
Distance covered by Boat 1 = 1500 × 38 / 100 = 570 km
Time taken by Boat 1 = 570 / 20 – 14 = 285 / 3 = 95 hrs
Distance covered by oat 2 = 1500 × 20 / 100 = 300 km
Time take by Boat 2 = 300 / 16 – 14 = 150 hrs
Time taken by Boat 3 = 24 × 15 / 12 – 8 = 90 hrs
Time taken by Boat 4 = 18 × 15 / 16 – 10 = 45 hrs
Total time taken by Dravid = 95 + 150 + 90 + 45 = 380 hrs

7). Speed = 12 + 8 = 20 kmph
Speed of Boat 4 = 16 + 10 = 26 kmph
Time taken by Boat 3 = 360 / 20 = 18
Time taken by Boat 4 = 270 / 26
Required Ratio = 18 × 270 / 26 = 26 : 15

8). New speed of Boat 4 = 16 × 115 / 100 = 18.4 kmph
Time taken to travel 756 km = 756 / 18.4 – 10 = 756 / 8.4 = 90 hrs

9). Time taken by Boat 1 = 300 / 20 – 14 = 300 / 6 = 50 hrs
Time taken by Boat 2 = 300 / 16 – 4 = 300 / 2 = 150 hrs
Required difference = 150 – 50 = 100 hrs

10). Speed of Boat 3 after 30% increase in its speed = 12 × 130 / 100 = 15.6 kmph
Speed of stream after 15% decrease = 8 × 85 / 100 = 6.8 kmph
Now, the time taken by Boat 3 = 440 / 15.6 – 6.8 = 50 hrs
Time taken by Boat 3 previously = 440 / 12 – 8 = 110 hrs
Before increase in time
Difference = 110 – 50 = 60 hrs.
