·        The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia on June 1st & 2nd, 2017 with an aim to strengthen their relation and highlight India as a potential investment destination.
·        The PM attended the 18th Indo- Russia Annual  Summit held in St. Petersberg, Russia . This summit gives better economic ties between India and Russia.       
·        He also addressed the Petersberg International  Economic Forum. India was the Guest country for this forum.
·        In 18th India-Russia Annual Summit’s press conference, Modi announced that Chanakyapuri  road in New Delhi would be named to honour late Alexander Mikhailovich Kadakin, Russia’s longest serving envoy to India who died 26th January in New Delhi.

MOUs/ Agreements:
·        The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Culture of the Republic of India signed an agreement for cultural exchanges for two years(2017-2018).
·        The general agreement framework on building third stage of the Kudangulam Nuclear Power Plant (KK5 and KK6) signed.
·        The JSC Russian Railways and Ministry of railways of India inked to set up high speed Nagpur – Secunderabad railway service and also a special purpose vehicle.
·        MOU between ALROSA Joint Stock Company and the Council for the Promotion of the Export of Precious Stones and Jewellery of India has been signed.
·        The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Council of India on Scientific and Industrial Research inked an agreement to provide access to Rospatent experts to the Indian Digital Library of Traditional Knowledge (TKDL).

Other Important Points:
·        The two nations India and Russia are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
·        The PM Modi paid homage to the heroic defenders and brave soldiers of the Battle of Leningrad at the Piskarovskoye Cemetery.
·        India and Russia have decided to hold the first tri-Services exercises, named ‘Indra-2017’, this year.
·        India and Russia try to build ‘Energy Bridge’ and expand relations in all areas like nuclear, hydrocarbon, hydel and renewable energy etc.,
·        Both India and Russia decided to begin joint manufacturing of frigates and co-production of Kamov-226 military helicopters.
