Direction (1-4): In each of the following questions, two rows of numbers are given. The resultant number in each row is to be worked out separately based on the following rules and the questions below the rows of numbers are to be answered. The operation of numbers progresses from left to right.

Rules:

1). If an even number is followed by an even number, then add both the numbers.

2). If an odd number is followed by an odd number which is neither perfect square nor a prime number, then find the positive difference of both the numbers.

3). If an even number is followed by an odd number which is composite, then multiply both the numbers.

4). If an odd number is followed by an even number which is not a perfect square, then the even number is subtracted from the odd number.

5). If an even number is followed by an odd number which is a prime number, then divide the first number by the second number.

6). If an odd number is followed by an even number which is a perfect square, then find the sum of both the numbers.

Note: If more than one rule is applied, then apply only one as per the order.

Direction (8-10): There are two rows given and to find out the resultant of a particular row we need to follow the following conditions: –

Condition 1: If an odd number is followed by an even number then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.

Condition 2: If an even number is followed by a perfect square then the resultant will be the difference between that square number and the even number.

Condition 3: If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.

Condition 4: If an even number is followed by an odd number (but not a perfect square) then the resultant comes by multiplying the numbers.

Condition 5: If an odd number is followed by another odd number then the resultant will be the division of the first number by the second number.

Answers :

1) Answer: C

Row 1:

101   100   99

101+100=201 (rule 6)

201-99=102 (rule 2)

Row 2:

42     7      16

42/7=6 (rule 5)

6+16=22 (rule 1)

Hence, the difference of the resultants of both the rows is

102-22=80.

2) Answer: A

Row 1:

16     24     39

16+24=40 (rule 1)

40*39=1560 (rule 3)

Row 2:

491   400   436

491+400=891 (rule 6)

891-436=455 (rule 4)

Hence, the sum of the resultants of both the rows is

1560+455=2015.

3) Answer: B

Row 1:

71     177   53

71-177=106 (rule 2)

106/53=2 (rule 5)

Row 2:

M      87     16

M=2

2*87=174 (rule 3)

174+16=190 (rule 1)

Hence, the resultant of the second row is 190.

4) Answer: C

Row 1:

104   13     15

104/13=8 (rule 5)

8*15=120 (rule 3)

Row 2:

26     6      P

26+6=32 (rule 1)

since the sum of both rows is 170 and resultant of the first row is 120. The only possible value of the resultant of the second row is 50.

32+18=50 (rule 1)

Hence, the value of P is 18.

5) Answer: A

6733 8713 4183 7641 4733

6) Answer: A

5841 7821 3271 8534 3846

7) Answer: B

4182 4735 6732 7643 8712

8421 7543 7632 7643 8721

8721 8421 7643 7632 7543

4+4=8

8) Answer: D

In row-1

Condition 2 is applied: Even number is followed by a perfect square. So, 9-4= 5

Now, the row 1 becomes:     5      5

Condition 5 is applied: Odd number is followed by an odd number so=5/5= 1

In row-2

Condition 4 is applied: Even number is followed by an odd number so=6*3= 18

Now the row 2 becomes: 18     2

Condition 3 is applied: Even number is followed by an even number so=18+2= 20

So, the resultant of two rows = 20+1 = 21

9) Answer: C

In row-1

Condition 1 is applied:Odd number is followed by another odd number so=5+6= 11

Now, the row 1 becomes: 11      1

Condition 5 is applied: odd number is followed by an odd number so=11/1= 11

In row-2

Condition 3 is applied: Even number is followed by an even number so = 6+10= 16

Now, the row 2 becomes: 16     3

Condition 4 is applied: Even number is followed by an odd number so = 16*3= 48

So the resultant of the two rows = 48*11= 528

10) Answer: A

In row-1

Condition 2 is applied: even number is followed by an perfect square number so=9-2 = 7

Now, the row 1 becomes: 7       8

Condition 1 is applied: Odd number is followed by an even number so = 7+8 = 15

In row-2

Condition 1 is applied: Odd number is followed by an even number so = 7+8 = 15

Now, the row 2 becomes:  15      3

Condition 5 is applied: Odd number is followed by another odd number so=15/3= 5

So, the difference of the resultant of both rows = 15-5 = 10
