    Constitution day: 26th November
    i. The Constitution Day of India is being observed on 26th November to spread awareness of Indian Constitution. On this day in 1949, constitution of India was adopted and came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of free India.
    ii. The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) is the nodal Ministry for the celebration of Constitution Day. This year it is second edition of the Constitution Day. On this occasion Prime Minister Narendra has released two books on Constitution ‘Making of Constitution’ and ‘New Version of Constitution of India‘.
    Government to launch campaign to open bank accounts for workers today

    i. Government will today launch a nationwide campaign to open bank accounts for workers – both in organised and unorganised sectors – who do not have one even today.  Special camps will be organised in every district at specific locations from today to facilitate people to open their bank accounts.

    ii. Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya said, it has been decided to pursue this path of digital transactions more vigorously than ever before. He said, communication has already been sent to all the states in this respect requesting their active co-operation.
    iii. Mr Dattatraya sought the co-operation of all establishments, employers, employees associations and others to ensure that the needy workers access these camps and avail the services. The campaign will continue for a few days through the concerned banks, their business correspondents and camps as required.
    Anil Dave announces to remove Moratorium on Ankleshwar, Vapi&Vatva GIDC

    i. In Gujarat, Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Anil Dave today announced to remove the moratorium on Ankleshwar, Vapi and Vatva GIDC as the critically polluted industrial clusters.  The Minister was speaking at a function organised at Ankleshwar GIDC today.

    ii. The moratorium was imposed on these clusters for their critically polluting nature. The ban prohibited expansion of the existing units and setting up new units till they bring down the pollution levels. Welcoming the decision, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, the decision would boost investments in the state ahead of Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
    PM to flag off Humsafar train in Kushinagar tomorrow

    i. Prime Minister NarendraModi will flag off the Humsafar train to ply between Gorakhpur and AnandVihar terminus, Delhi in Kushinagar tomorrow. This tri-weekly train will have several new features including LED screen display to show information about stations, train speed and will have announcement system as well.

    ii. Other facilities are vending machines for tea, coffee and milk, ports for charging electronic devices such as mobiles and laptops. Its berths will be more comfortable than the previous 3-tier AC sleeper rakes, bio toilets in compartments and the exterior of coaches will have a futuristic look with the use of Vinyl sheets.
    iii. Safety measures in compartments such as introduction of smoke alarms and CCTV cameras, have also been given in the coaches. However, the fare in the Humsafar train would be 20 per cent more than the normal trains. Prime Minister will also address a ‘parivartan’ rally here.
    Culture ministry releases coins to mark 500th anniversary of Hindu saint

    i. Shri Narendra Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Culture has released a Commemorative Non-Circulation Coin of Rs.500 and a Circulation Coin of Rs.10 on November 25, 2016, to mark a year-long celebration of “500th Anniversary of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Coming to Vrindavan”.

    ii. Government of India is celebrating the ‘500th anniversary of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Coming to Vrindavan’ since a year by organizing various programmes and Exhibitions on Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s life and teachings in association with Vrindavan Research Institute and ISKCON
    AP govt launches awareness campaign to promote cashless transaction

    i. Andhra Pradesh government has launched a state-wide awareness campaign to promote use of cashless methods of transaction, such as online banking, mobile wallets, and e-POS machines.

    ii. The campaign, in the short-term, will ease the cash crunch in the wake of demonetisation and, in the long-term, push the state economy towards digitisation. The campaign is being conducted by the Finance Department. Its first leg began in Guntur yesterday.
    Air Sewa Portal’ Launched For Hassle-Free Air Travel
    i. Government has launched an Air Sewa Portal and Mobile App to offer air travelers a convenient and hassle free experience.  Through this app, passengers can check their flight status, flight schedule and register their grievances.
    ii. Launching the facility in New Delhi yesterday, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, passengers will be able to post their feedback and complaints, if there are any inadequate services from airlines and airports.

    Maharashtra govt names Oshiwara railway station Ram Mandir
    i. Maharashtra government on Friday issued a notification for renaming the newly built Oshiwara station as Ram Mandir. The notification has been sent to the Railways Ministry, which is yet to endorse the station name and code. “The area is known as Ram Mandirchowk. The decision to name the station by Ram Mandir is thus justified,” CM DevendraFadnavis said.

    IFFI showing movies for visually impaired
    i. For the first time, the International Film Festival of India is showing movies for the visually impaired, with special audio described technology.
    ii. Three films that are being screened at the festival in Goa under the Accessible India Campaign are Gandhi, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Dhanak.  The movies are being shown in collaboration with UNESCO and a Delhi-based NGO, Saksham.
    First International Gita Mahotsav to be celebrated in Haryana
    i. The first ever International Gita Mahotsav will be celebrated at Kurukshetra in Haryana from 6th to 10th December.  Briefing media in New Delhi today, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the event.
    ii. He said, many spiritual leaders from different religions, scholars, artists from different countries will participate in the mega event.  The Chief Minister said, President will also lay the foundation stone of Krishna circuit on the occasion.

    South Indian Bank launches contactless debit card
    i. Kerala based South Indian Bank has launched contactless debit card which is based on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Customers can also use this card as contact chip card. If customers use this card at the contactless PoS terminal, the customer simply has to just wave the card on the terminal and the payment is processed wirelessly in a fast and secure manner.

    The duty arrived at would be 10 per cent in the first year and will gradually reduce
    i. India’s GDP Growth to Slow to 6.5%India’s real GDP growth is expected to slow to 6.5% in the current fiscal on the likely impact of demonetisation, says a Deutsche Bank report.According to the global financial services major, economic growth will see a moderation in the near term. It would gradually recover to 7.5% in the next financial year. PM Modi had on Nov 8 announced the demonetisation of Rs. 500&Rs. 1,000 notes.
    INOX Leisure ties up with SBI for dispensing cash
    i. After Big Bazaar, multiplex chain INOX Leisure on Friday  said it has partnered with the State Bank of India to allow customers withdraw cash up to Rs 2,000 by using debit cards beginning on Friday. The company added that the facility will be available across 17 properties starting today, and will be made available at the remaining 89 properties over the course of the weekend.
    ii. The government recently allowed the withdrawal of cash of up to a limit of Rs 2,000 by swiping debit cards at select petrol pumps using point-of-sale (POS) transaction machines. Earlier this week, Future Group announced that customers can withdraw cash up to Rs 2,000 by using debit cards at all Big Bazaar and fbb stores from November 24.
    Tata Steel Replaces Cyrus Mistry
    i. The board of Tata Steel voted to replace Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of the company. The board has named State Bank of India veteran OP Bhatt as an interim replacement. Mr. Bhatt will serve as chairman till the outcome of the EGM of the company. The company said this decision was taken to also ensure stability in the larger interest of Tata Steel’s stakeholders.
    Pak appoints Lt Gen Qamar Bajwa as new Army chief: Reports
    i. Pakistan on Saturday appointed Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa as its new Army chief, reports said. Bajwa will take up the new post on Tuesday after the retirement of the incumbent chief Raheel Sharif. Notably, Bajwa had served alongside former Indian Army chief Bikram Singh on a UN mission in Africa’s Congo.

    Committee constituted to convert 100% Govt-Citizen Transactions to digital platform
    i. The Centre announced a new committee, headed by NitiAayog CEO Amitabh Kant, to form a strategy to expedite the process of transforming India into a cashless economy. The panel is tasked with identifying various bottlenecks affecting access of digital payments. The committee was set up following a directive from the Prime Minister’s Office to back up the demonetisation move, a senior government official said.
    Manoj Bajpayee Wins Best Actor Award
    i. Indian actor Manoj Bajpayee has won the best performance award by an actor at the 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards.Nawazuddin Siddiqui was awarded a special mention in the same category. The 2016 Awards marked the 10th year of APSA recognising and promoting cinematic excellence. Bajpayee won the award for his performance as Professor Siras in “Aligarh” directed by Hansal Mehta.

    Mary Kom to Receive ‘Legends Award’ from International Boxing Association
    i. Celebrated Indian boxer M C Mary Kom is all set to add another honour to her glittering career when she receives the ‘Legends Award’ from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on its 70th anniversary on December 20.
    ii. At present, the Olympian and a five-time world champion is a RajyaSabha MP. President Pranab Mukherjee nominated her as a member of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament in April 2016. Mary Kom is also a multiple-time Asian champion and was named an AIBA brand ambassador during the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
    Sameer Verma beats World No. 3 to reach Hong Kong Open final
    i. World number 43 Indian shuttler Sameer Verma advanced to his maiden Hong Kong Open final after upsetting world number three Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen 21-19, 24-22 in the semifinal on Saturday. The 22-year-old Indian shuttler will next face world number 14 Hong Kong’s Ka Long Angus Ng in the tournament’s title match on Sunday.

    Cuba’s former President Fidel Castro passes away
    i. Cuba’s former president and leader of the Communist revolution Fidel Castro passed away due to old age. He was 90. He was commander in chief of the 1959 Cuban revolution 1959  and had successfully built a communist state on the doorstep of the United States during Cold War. He had ruled Cuba as a one-party state for almost half a century (from 1976 to 2008) before handing over the powers to his brother Raul Castro in 2008 due to ill health
    Ivan Mikoyan, Russian aircraft designer passes away
    i. Ivan Mikoyan, Russian aircraft designer and one of the minds behind the MiG-29 fighter jet has died, aged 89. He was a lead engineer at MiG Aircraft Corporation’s design bureau, founded by his uncle Artyom Mikoyan. He awarded the USSR State Prize twice for his contributions to the MiG project and  remained a company adviser until his death.
