Ornamental fish hatchery to be set up in Jhajjar district of Haryana soon

The Haryana government has decided to set up a modern ornamental fish hatchery in Jhajjar district at a cost of Rs 13.68 crore. “This will be the first-of-its-kind project in the country,” Agriculture and Fisheries minister Om Prakash Dhankar said.

Rajasthan becomes the first state in the country to fix minimum educational qualification for contesting cooperative body polls

Rajasthanbecomes the first state in the country to fix minimum educational qualification for contesting cooperative body polls. To this effect, the Rajasthan Government amended the State Cooperative State Cooperative Societies Rules, 2003. The new rules will benefit around 10,000 cooperative and agricultural credit societies. For contesting election as members of governing boards of dairy societies, farming societies, consumer societies, weavers’ societies, urban banks, housing construction societies, primary land development banks, credit societies and cooperative unions, the minimum educational qualifications will range from class 5 to class 8. The primary committee members need to have passed at least class 8. For district level members the minimum qualification required is class 10, while those interested in being a member of State level committee will need to be a graduate.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has recently launched an ambitious flagship program titled “Livelihood Intervention and Facilitation of Entrepreneurship” (LIFE) at Songsak. LIFE will focus on capacity building, Under the program, every 10 SHGs (Self-Help Groups) will be motivated to act like a bank and help each other. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to lead Central team to flood-hit States

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will lead a high-level Central team to assess the rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas of the north-east. India will host 8th edition of Theatre Olympics in 2018, the biggest theatre celebration of the world. The greatest carnival will start from February 17-April 08, 2018. India is hosting this event for the first time. Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma stated in New Delhi that the Theatre Olympics will put India firmly among the top nations in the world theatre map. The government has started a story-telling contest named ‘Aadhaar Hai To Aasaani Hai’ to create awareness about Aadhaar number

To create awareness about Aadhaar number, the government has started a story-telling contest named ‘Aadhaar Hai To Aasaani Hai ‘. People willing to participate can send a 200-500 word-long story about Aadhaar till August 8 midnight. The top five stories will be awarded Rs 20,000 each, while the next 20 stories will be awarded Rs 5,000 each.

SBI waives charge on IMPS fund transfer of up to Rs 1,000

Country’s largest bank SBI has waived charges for fund transfer of up to Rs 1,000 through its IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) to promote small transactions. State Bank of India had been charging Rs 5 along with the applicable service tax for IMPS fund transfer of up to Rs 1,000. IMPS is an instant interbank electronic fund transfer service through mobile phones as well as internet banking. For IMPS, the charge will be Rs 5 along GST for fund transfer in the range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The charge will go up to Rs 15 for transactions of Rs 1-2 lakh. GST at the rate of 18 per cent is applicable on all financial transactions.

5 Indian States and a Union Territory have formally adopted the centre’s GeM

Subhash Garg takes charge as Economic Affairs Secretary

Senior bureaucrat Subhash Chandra Garg assumed charge as Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the Finance Ministry. A 1983 batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, Garg was World Bank Executive Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Sri Lanka prior to this appointment.
