    Directions (6 – 10):Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.
    There are twelve friends sitting in two parallel rows containing six people each. In row 1, L, M, N, O, P and Q are seated and all of them are facing south. In row 2, Z, Y, X, W, V and U are seated and all of them are facing north. Therefore, in the given seating arrangement each member seated in a row faces another member of the other row.
    P faces W, who does not sit at extreme ends. Z sits third to the right of W. Z does not sit at extreme ends. Q does not face Z, and he does not sit at either of the extreme ends. Q is not an immediate neighbour of P. Y sits at one of the extreme ends. Only two persons sit between Y and V. V does not face Q. Two persons sit between N and M. N is not an immediate neighbour of P. X does not face Q. L is not at an immediate neighbour of N.
    6).Who among the following faces Z?

    a)  Q
    b)  W
    c)  X
    d)  Y
    e)  None of these
    10).Who among the following sits exactly between V and Z?
    a)  W
    b)  U
    c)  Y
    d)  Can’t be determined

    Directions (1-5): In each sentence below four words that the printed in bold have been lettered (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e). One of them may be wrongly spelt or inappropriate in the context of the sentence. Find out the word, which is wrongly spelt or inappropriate if there is any. The letter of that word is the answer. If all the words, which are printed in bold, are correctly spelt and appropriate in the context of the sentence, mark (e) as the answer ie All Correct.
    11).They arenegotiating a)/to try andreachb)/ an agreement which willbeneficial c)/everyoneconcernedd)/. All correcte)
    12).The company hasdecided a)/to allott b)/a substantial c)/ Portion d)/of its profitsto research and development. All correct (e).
    13).It remainsa)/ to be seenwhether b)/ thesereforms b)/will beacceptable d)/ by the Board. All correcte)
    14).His mainreasoning a)/ forapplying b)/ for this promotion is thepossibility c)/of an overseasposting d)/ All correcte).
    15).Since our financialresourcesa)/arelimitlessb)/we cannotaffordc)/ thisalternative. All correcte).
    1)d   2)a   3)d   4)e   5)a   6)d   7)a   8)b  9)c   10)b  11)c  12)b  13)d  14)a  15)b
    1). d) Let the speed of the train be S kmph
    Relative speed while crossing first person = (S – 4)kmph = (5/18)(S – 4)mps
    Length of the train = (5/18)(S – 4) × 8
    Relative speed while crossing first person = (S – 8)kmph = (5/18)(S – 8)mps
    Length of the train = (5/18)(S – 8) × 9
    Since lengths is same in both cases.
    (5/18)(S – 4) × 8 = (5/18)(S – 8) × 9 => 8S – 32 = 9S – 72 => S = 40kmph

    2). a) Let the present ages of Sameer and Anand be 5x years and 4x years respectively.
    Therefore, Anand’s present age = 4x = 4 × 6 = 24 years.

    3). d) Whole work is done by A in 20 × 5/4 = 25 days
    Now, [1 – 4/5] i.e, 1/5 work is done by A and B in 3 days
    Whole work will be done by A and B in (3 × 5) = 15 Dys
    A’s 1 day work = 1/25, (A + B)’s 1 day work = 1/15
    Therefore B’s 1 day work = [1/15 – 1/25] = 4/150 = 2/75
    So, B alone would do the work in 75/2 days = 37 ½ days

    4). e) Let the distance be ‘x’ and the original speed be ‘y’.
    =>x – 10y – 1200 = 0 ————-> (i)
    1500/y + [(x – 1500) x 3/2y] = x/y + 5/2
    =>x – 5y – 1500 = 0 —————> (ii)
    From eqn (I) and (II), x = 1800 km
    y = 60 kmph

    5). a) The population will be 1200000 × 1.15 × 1.15 × 1.15 = 1825050

    (6– 10):
    6). d)
    7). a)
    8). b)
    9). c)
    10). b)
    11).The appropriate word is ‘benefit’
