Solution:

1). Illiterate population is 35% of 60 lakhs = 21 lakhs
โˆด Number of female illiterate = (3 / 7) ร— 21 = 9 lakhs

2). Let total population is x.
โˆด Total literate = 60% of x = (3x / 5)
Literate male = ([(3x / 5) ร— 8] / 15) = (24x / 75)
โˆด (24x / 75) = 640000
โˆด x = [(640000 ร— 75) / 24] = 20 lakhs
Illiterate population = 40% of 20 lkah = 8 lakh

3). Data insufficient

4). Let the population of City E = x
Illiterate female = (x / 5) ร— (5 / 8) = 1.25
=> (x / 8) = 1.25
โˆด x = 10
Let the population of City F = y
Literate population = 50% of y = (y / 2)
Iiterate population of male = [(y / 2) ร— (1 / 5) ร— 3] = (3y / 10) = 1.2
y = [(1.2 ร— 10) / 3] = 4 lakhs
Ratio = (10 / 4) = (5 / 2) = 5 : 2

5). Illiterate population of City D = 35% of 10 lakhs
= 3.5 lakhs
Illiterate population of City E = 20% of 10 lakhs = 2 lakhs
โˆด % difference = [(3.5 โ€“ 2) / 2] ร— 100 = 75%

6). Total marks obtained by Nilesh = 80 + 90 + 30 + 108 + 68 + 39 = 415

7). Marks obtained by Arvind in Science and Economics = 135 + 60 = 195
Marks obtained by Pramod in Science and Economics = 120 + 48 = 168
Reqd % = [(195 โ€“ 168) / 168 ] ร— 100 โ‰ˆ 16%

8). Only Arvind and Ankit have got 65% or more marks in each subject.

9). Average marks obtained by all the students in Eng
= {[120 ร— (75 + 95 + 85 + 70 + 65 + 90)] / (6 ร— 100)} = 96
