Answers:

  1. Answer a

Let the speed of two trains be X and Y

Same direction,

25= (250+250)/(X – Y)

25X – 25Y = 500

X – Y = 20…… (i)

Opposite direction

5= (250+250)/(X + Y)

5X + 5Y = 500

X + Y = 100 …… (ii)

By solving we get,

Y= 40kmph, X= 60kmph

  1. Answer d

Side of square (a) = 15 m

Perimeter of rectangle = 3*4a = 3*4*15 = 180

= > 2(l + 35) = 180

= > l + 35 = 90

= > l = 90 – 35 = 55 m

Area of rectangle = lb = 55*35 = 1925 Sq. m

  1. Answer a

S.I = P*n*r/100

(16/25)*P = P*12*r/100

Rate of interest(r) = (16/25)*(100/12)

R = 16/3 = 5 1/3 %

  1. Answer c

Let the present age of these two persons are ‘x’ & ‘y’

(x + y)/2 = 46

x + y = 92 –à (1)

(x – 16)/(y – 16) = 1/2

2x – 32 = y – 16

2x – y = 16–à (2)

By solving the equation (1) and (2), we get,

x = 36 years and y = 56 years

Difference = 56 – 36 = 20 years

  1. Answer b

Let the cost price be Rs. 1

Selling price of mixture = Rs. 1

Cost price of mixture = 1*100/125 = 4/5

Directions (Q. 6 – 10):

  1. Answer c

(56/100)*490 + (29/100)*305 = 5x

(56*5) + (29*3) = 5x

280 + 87 = 5x

5x = 367

X = 367/5 = 73.4

X = 73

  1. Answer a

(500*12/20) + 42 = x

X = 300 + 16

X = 316

  1. Answer d

(34/9)*6478 + 463 – 2800 = x

X = (34*720) + 463 – 2800

X = 24480 + 463 – 2800

X = 22143

  1. Answer a

√x + 29 = (3498 + 45)/100

√x + 29 = 3543/100

√x = 35 – 29= 6

X = 62 = 36

  1. Answer d

∛2197 ÷ 1.3 + √900 ÷ ∛343 = x

X = (13/1.3) + (30/7)

X = 10 + 4

X = 14

Required % = (90/36)*100 = 250 %

  1. Answer c

Total no of professors in university C

= > 340 – (65 % of 340 + 90)

= > 340 – (221 + 90) = 29

Total no of associate professors in university B and D together

= > 45 + 80 = 125

Required ratio = 29: 125

  1. Answer b

Total no of assistant professors in all universities

= > 225*(40/100) + 180*(55/100) + 340*(65/100) + 250*(32/100)

= > 90 + 99 + 221 + 80

= > 490

  1. Answer c

Total no of faculty members in university A and D

= > 225 + 250 = 475

Total no of faculty members in university B and C

= > 180 + 340 = 520

Less % = [(520-475)/520]*100 = 45*100/520 = 8.65 % = 9 %

  1. Answer d

Total no of professors in University A

= > 225 – (40 % of 225 + 75)

= > 225 – (90 + 75) = 60

Total no of professors in University B

= > 180 – (55 % of 180 + 45)

= > 180 – (99 + 45) = 36

Total no of professors in university C

= > 340 – (65 % of 340 + 90)

= > 340 – (221 + 90) = 29

Total no of professors in University D

= > 250 – (32 % of 250 + 80)

= > 250 – (80 + 80) = 90

University D has highest no of professors.
