    1). Union Science and Technology MinisterDr. Harsh Vardhan flagged offScience Express Climate Action Special(SECAS) from Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi
    ·        Theme –Climate Change
    ·        Aim – To create awareness among various sections of the society especially the students about various challenges and issues associated with climate change
    ·        It is a collaborative initiative of the following organizations
    a)   Department of Science and Technology (DoS&T)
    b)   Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC)
    c)   Union Ministry of Railways
    ·        It is an innovativescience exhibition on a 16-coach AC train and has been custom built by the Indian Railways for DoS&T
    ·        For about7 months the train will travel across India covering about18,000 kms and halting at64 locations over20States

    2).Supreme Court (SC) permitted Union Government to voluntary use ofAadhaar card scheme in Welfare Schemes
    ·        Earlier, SC had restricted the use of Aadhaar to public distribution system(LPG) andLPG subsidy
    ·        Now it has been extended for the following schemes namely
    a)   MGNREGA
    b)   PM’s Jan Dhan Yojana
    c)   All types of pension schemes
    d)   EPF
    ·        This modified order was given by 5-judge Constitution Bench led by Chief JusticeH. L. Dattu
    ·        It was issued on abatch of requests made by the following organizations
    a)   Union government
    b)   Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA)
    c)   Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
    d)   IRDAI
    e)   SEBI
    f)    TRAI

    3).TheReserve Bank of India (RBI) establishedFinancial Inclusion Fund (FIF) withRs. 2000 crore corpus to develop and promote activities covered under the financial inclusion activities
    ·        FIF has been established by merging the following funds
    a)   Financial Inclusion Fund
    b)   Financial Inclusion Technology Fund (FITF)
    ·        The following are the objectives of FIF
    a)   To enhance investment in GreenInformation and Communication Technology (ICT) solution
    b)   To support for funding the setting up and operational cost for running financial inclusion andLiteracy Centres
    ·        It will be administered by the reconstitutedAdvisory Board  and will be maintained byNABARD
    ·        Contribution to FIF would be from the interest differential in excess of0.5% on the following
    a)   Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF)
    b)   Short-Term Cooperative Rural Credit (STCRC) deposits

    4).Supreme Court declared theNational Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC)Act, 2014 and99thConstitutional Amendment Act, 2014 has unconstitutional and void
    ·        The Parliament had passed the NJAC Act, 2014 and the 99th Constitutional Amendment Act to replace the 2-decade oldcollegium system of judges appointing judges in higher judiciary
    ·        The SC bench has held that the Collegium system will remain operative which was established by its ruling in1993
    ·        The ruling was given by 5-judge Constitutional Bench of SC headed byJustice J. S. Khehar on a petition filed bySC Advocates on Record Association (SCAORA) and others
    ·        The petition had challenged the new law on the selection and appointment of judges stating that it is unconstitutional and aimed at hurting the freedom of judiciary

    5).Australian Government approvedAdani Group’sCarmichael coal mineand rail project in accordance with environment laws of country
    ·        Earlier inAugust 2015, the Australian court had temporarily blocked the project because of environmental concerns
    ·        The approval has been granted subject to36 of the strictest conditions in Australian history
    ·        The Carmichael coal mine, one of the world’s biggest coal mines is to be built byAdani Mining Private Ltd. which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Adani Group

    6).TheMyanmar Government has signed a peace accord with8of the15ethnic armed minorities groups especially belonging toKayin andChin groups to end thecivil war of decades
    ·        The agreement will remain open for the signature from the other armed groups with which the Myanmar government is involved in negotiations
    ·        The ceremony was held by the Myanmar PresidentThein Seinin the presence of the following6international witnesses inNaypyidaw
