    1). TheUnion Finance Ministry announced a20% provisionalsafeguard duty on certain categories ofsteel products to protect the domestic steel sector from problems of low demand and competition from sudden increase in cheap imports
    ·        This move was recommended by theDirectorate General of Safeguards (DGS)
    ·        The market share of domestic steel producers has been declining since 2014 and is expected to decrease more from45% to37% in2015-16
    ·        Safeguard Duty – aWorld Trade Organization (WTO) compatible temporary measure to avert any damage to a country’s domestic industry from cheap imports and is brought in for a certain timeframe

    ·        The linkage of Godavari water with Krishna is made possible by thePattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme on Godavari river atPattisam village
    ·        The state has created history by completing the Krishna-Godavari linking project to divert about80 TMC of water from river Godavari to Krishna as announced by the State Water Resources MinisterDevineni Umamaheshwara Rao
