    1). Kerala Government signed an MoU withAdani Ports and Special Economic Zone(APSEZ) for buildingVizhinjam seaport project
    ·        Vizhinjam seaport project – Kerala government project initiated by late Kerala CMK. Karunakaran in1991to build a deep and natural draft port nearKovalam beach inThiruvananthapuram
    ·        The total cost of the project isRs. 7525 crore
    ·        To develop this project Kerala government formed theVizhinjam International Seaport Ltd.(VISL)
    ·        Vizhinjam Seaport – is an all-weather port on the Southern tip of Indian peninsula which is about10 nautical miles from theInternational Shipping Lane
    ·        This seaport has a natural seawater depth of up to 24m – 1 nautical mile from the sea-coast enabling it to attract larger container vessels
    ·        Due to its position at the tip of the Indian Peninsula, Vizhinjam project is important to carter cargo service to
    a)   Eastern and western coast lines of India
    b)   Central location with respect to South Eastern Countries
    ·        The MoU was signed between Kerala government and APSEZ was signed by Kerala Principal SecretaryJames Varghese and Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Ltd. CEOSantosh Kumar Mahopatrain the presence of the following personalities
    a)   Oommen Chandy – Kerala Chief Minister
    b)   Gautam Adani – Chairman of APSEZ
    ·        The project is planned to be started fromNovember 2015 and to be ready in less than1000 days

    2).TheOdisha Government to set upState level Facilitation Cell(SLFC) to speed up the approvals of investment projects through hassle free Single Window Clearance
    ·        State Level Facilitation Cell – A board that consists of members from the following organizations
    a)   Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation(IDCO)
    b)   State Pollution Control Board(SPCB)
    c)   Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.(OPTCL)
    d)   Directorate of factories and boilers
    e)   Water resources department (full time basis)
    f)    Representatives of national level industry association
    ·        These members will monitor the general and special conditions of approved project proposals and facilitate timely implementation
    ·        SLFC was formed to make Odisha a favorable destination for investors
    ·        SLFC has categorized companies into2-types to speed up the investment proposals as follows
    a)   Green category
    b)   Non-Green category
    ·        Companies which come under theGreen category are
    a)   Agri-based industries
    b)   Cottage industries
    c)   Food processing
    d)   Textiles
    e)   Chemicals
    f)    Building materials
    g)   Consumer goods
    ·        SLFC will take15 days to approve a proposal from Green category companies and30 daysfor approving a proposal from non-Green category companies

    3).Tamil Nadu Health MinsterC. Vijaya Bhaskar announced that Tamil Nadu tops in organ donation in India
    ·        In Tamil Nadu organs from683people were harvested and donated to3000beneficiaries
    ·        The overallorgan transplantations that took place are as follows
    a)   144 – heart transplants
    b)   636 – liver transplants
    c)   1233 – kidney transplants
    d)   69 – lung transplants
    e)   4 – pancreas

    ·        The 7 – NBFCs are as follows

    ·        RBI underRBI Act 1934 has power over NBFCs that meet the 50-50 criteria to

    ·        NBFCs that does not carry out business  according to the directions issued by RBI under the RBI Act is eligible for penal action and cancellation of theCertificate of Registrationof the NBFC

    5).Managing Director and CEO ofICICIBankChanda Kochhar launched‘Smart Vault’, a digital locker in New Delhi
    ·        Smart Vault – 1st of its kind fully automated digital locker facility in India equipped with
    a)   Multi layered security system

    c)   Biometric and debit cards authentication
    ·        It was designed and manufactured by Indian partners of ICICI bank as a part of theMake in India campaign
    ·        Customers can access the vault without any intervention by the branch staff
    ·        Customers can avail the vault facilities even on weekend and post banking hours
    ·        Smart Vault usesadvance robotic technology
    ·        The lockers will be available in3 different sizes and charges will be according to the size
    APPOINTMENTS
    6). Maharashtra Government has appointed famous cricketerSachin Tendulkar as its new ambassador for theSave Tiger Campaign to create awareness about saving the tigers
    ·        Maharashtra’s Forest MinisterSudhir Mungantiwar forwarded an offer to Tendulkar on 29th July 2015
    ·        He has been appointed along with actorAmitabh Bachchan as the ambassador of the project by theTiger Protection Foundation
    ·        Maharashtra has6-tiger reserves namely

    ·        The Tiger population has made a steady rise from103 in 2006 to169 in 2010

    8). State Bank of India launched‘SBI Buddy’, a mobile wallet application
    ·        SBI Buddy – will provide convenient and secure digital payment system to customers
    ·        This app is available in 13 – languages with features as follows
    a)   Reminders to recharge
    b)   Bill payments
    c)   Cash transfer
    d)   Due settlements
    e)   Ticket bookings for movies, flights, etc
    ·        It was launched in collaboration withAccentureandMastercard
    ·        This app is made available inAndroid phones andGoogle Play store
    ·        Is soon to be launched onApple App Store
    ·        SBI Buddy was launched by Union Finance MinisterArun Jaitley at a function at State Bank Bhavan, Nariman Point, Mumbai  in the presence of Arundhati Bhattacharya

    INTERNATIONAL
    9). China successfully tested the power system for the largest space rocket launch vehicle,Long March – 5 carrier
    ·        This power system will be used in China’sChang’e – 5 lunar mission 2017

    a)   It has a payload capacity of25 tonnes to low Earth orbits and14 tonnesto geostationary transfer orbits
    b)   It uses non-toxic and non-polluting liquefied propellant with high trust generating capacity
    c)   It will increase China’s ability to enter the space with higher payload
    d)   It will play an important role China’s aim to build manned space stations and3-step current program of orbiting, landing and returning from lunar mission

    10). Suvra Mukherjee – India’s1st Lady – wife of PresidentPranab Mukherjee passed away in New Delhi
    ·        She was born on 17thSeptember 1940 in Jessore, Bangladesh
    ·        In 1957 she was married to Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and they have 3 –children
    a)   Sharmistha Mukherjee
    b)   Abhijit Mukherjee
    c)   Indrajit Mukherjee
    ·        Suvra Mukherjee founded the‘Geetanjali Troupe’ as she was an ardent fan ofRabindranath Tagore to propagate his songs and dance-dramas
