    NATIONAL:
    1).Union Government contributedRs. 2000 crores toEmployees Pension Scheme(EPS), 1995 for the year 2015-16
    ·        Features of EPS
    a.   Employers contribute8.33% of the monthly wages of the employees
    b.   Union Government contributes1.16% of the monthly wages of the members of the scheme
    c.   Government had assured a guaranteed minimum pension ofRs. 1000per month through this scheme
    ·        Previously government had contributedRs. 250 crores as a grant-in-aid for minimum pension in addition to the Rs. 2000 crore contribution for the year2015-16

    2).Haryana Government launchedSakhi, a center to help the women in distress
    ·        Haryana Women and Child Development MinisterKavita Jain launched state’s 1st  One Stop Centre Sakhi inKarnal
    ·        The Center would provide help to sexually, mentally and emotionally harassed women
    ·        Previously the Haryana government had openedwomen police stations in21 districts to provide security to women
    ·        Sakhi –2nd Women protection center in the country, 1stbeing inChhattisgarh
    ·        Haryana is the2nd state in the country to have women police stations

    3).Punjab New and Renewable Energy Department (PNRED) won award for highest capacity in rooftop solar power output
    ·        PNRED bagged the1st position in the category of highest capacity addition in Grid-connected solar rooftop power in India for the year 2015-16
    ·        PNRED also won4 more awards in the following categories namely
    a.   Highest capacity addition of off-grid waste to energy plants
    b.   Deployment of highest cumulative numbers of Solar Water Pumps
    c.   Achieving highest cumulative grid connected solar rooftop power capacity
    d.   Achieving highest capacity addition in grid connected solar power
    ·        These awards were presented by the Union Minister of State for Power, Coal and Renewable EnergyPiyush Goyal in Bangalore
    ·        Chandigarhwon the2ndposition in the highest capacity addition in grid connected solar rooftop power

    4).Islamic State destroyed theTemple of Bel inPalmyra
    ·        Islamic State(IS) militant group destroyed a part of Temple of Bel of Palmyra in Syria
    ·        In August 2015, they had destroyed the ancientTemple of Baalshamin in the same region
    ·        Temple of Bel – one of the best preserved temple of Palmyra dedicated to thePalmyrene gods
    ·        Palmyra– UNESCO World Heritage site and a major tourist attraction of Syria
    a.   One of the most important cultural centers
    b.   It consists of more than1000columns and500 tombs
    c.   It is blend ofGreco-Roman architectures dating back to 1st and 2nd centuries

    ·        The highest mountain ofNorth America, McKinley was renamed as Denali to recognize the sacred status of Denali to generations ofAlaska Natives
    ·        The mountain located in the6 million-acre Denali national park, has been known as Denali in Alaska since1975
    ·        This name change was done to fulfill the US President’s2008 campaignpromise to improve relations between the federal government and the nation’sNative American tribes
    ·        In January 2015,Republican Senate Lisa Murkowski of Alaska introduced legislation that sought to officially call the mountain what Alaskans and indigenous people called itDenali or The High One

    6).Manipur Legislative Assembly passed 3 bills to protect indigenous people of the state
    ·        Thethree bills that were passed in interest of the people of Manipur are as follows
    a.   Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015
    b.   Manipur Shops and Establishments (2nd Amendment) Bill 2015
    c.   Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill 2015

    7).Yes Bank redesigned its organizational structure
    ·        Yes Bank the5th largest private sector of India redesigned its organizational structure to accelerate itsRetailandSMEsectors
    ·        This organizational redesign was done in the following categories
    a.    Expanding sales distribution network
    b.   Enhanced product offerings – credit cards, debit cards, home loans, etc.
    c.   Customer service and operations
    ·        Pralay Mondal will now head theCommercial Business Banking& Rural Banking in addition to his existing role as the head ofBranch Banking, Business Banking and Retail Banking
    ·        The bank has planned expansion of its network to1,500 branches by2018 and2,500 branches by2020
