    1).Union Government announced30% income tax rebate for establishment of new manufacturing plants and machineries in21 backward districts ofBihar
    ·        This tax rebate will be given for5 years as announced by the Bihar Finance Ministry underSection 32 of the IT Act
    ·        The21 Backward districts of Bihar selected for this special concession are as follows;
    Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Nawada, Vaishali, Sheohar, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnea, Kathihar, Araia, Jamul, Lakhisarai, Supaul, Muzaffarpur.
    ·        This total 30% tax rebate consists of
    a)   Additional depreciation15% – previously 20%
    b)   Investment allowance15%– previously also 15%
    ·        The new manufacturing plants and machineries are expected to be established byMarch 2020
    ·        This is the2nd major announcement in regards of Bihar by the Central Government
    ·        The1st major announcement wasRs. 1.25 lakh crore fund allotment to Bihar

    2).Union Tourism Ministry to announce the temple towns ofRishikesh andHaridwarasTwin National Heritage Cities
    ·        Rishikesh –30 heritage sites
    ·        Haridwar –370 heritage sites
    ·        Twin National Heritage Cities
    a)   It proposes a development plan to develop the 2-cities as world classYogaandspirituality centers
    b)   It will improve the infrastructure and traffic situations in these cities
    ·        This is the1st time India has tagged any of its cities

    3). Union Government approved the signing of theTax Information Exchange AgreementsbetweenIndiaandSeychelles
    ·        Both the countries will exchange information regarding taxes to curb tax evasion thus effectively reducing theblack money generation
    ·        The competent authorities of both the countries will get relevant information for administration and enforcement of the domestic laws concerning taxes
    ·        This agreement was signed during Prime MinisterNarendra Modi’s visit to Seychelles as a part of the3-nation tour inMarch 2015
    ·        Other measures taken by the Government of India to curb Black money are as follows:
    a)   Passing of theBlack Money and Imposition of Tax Act, 2015– making it compulsory to disclose details of foreign income and assets and pay30% of it as tax
    b)   Intergovernmental agreement between India and US to implementForeign Account Tax Compliance Act(FATCA) – where both the nations exchange financial information among themselves
    c)   India joined theMultilateral Competent Authority Agreement(MCAA) onAutomatic Exchange of Financial Account Information(AEOI) with Australia, Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand and Costa Rica
    4).TheUnited States Military launched the largest NATO airborne drills –‘Swift Response 15’to enhance security and stability in Europe.
    Swift Response 15 – a month long largest multinational airborne drill since theCold War in which around5000soldiers from11 NATO member states will participate.
    The 11-NATO member nations are as follows;
    Bulgaria, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Britain, Spain, United States, Netherland, Greece
    ·        Allied warplanes led by US will drop more than1000paratroopers and warfare equipment toHohenfels trainingarea inGermany
    ·        This drill will help the NATO forces to act as a single force and to demonstrate its alliance capacity
    5).Eminent Historic writerBabasaheb Purandare bestowed with Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2015
    ·        Maharashtra Bhushan Award – highest civilian award of Maharashtra State Government
    a)   It was established in1995 by the Shivsena-BJP alliance Govrnment
    b)   It is given to prominent personnel belonging to the following fields – art, science, literature, sport, journalism, social work, public administration and health services
    c)   Purushottam Laxman Deshpande – Marathi writer and humourist – 1st recipient in1996
    ·        Babasaheb Moreshwar Purandare famously known as ‘Shiv Shahir’ – Shivaji’s poet was born on29th July 1922
