    1).Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) decided to pay a production-linked subsidy of Rs 4.50 per quintal directly to sugarcane farmers
    ·        Objectiveof decision – to help cash strapped sugar mills clear arrears and would cost public exchequer about Rs. 1,147 crore
    2).CCEA approved the extension of Lines of Credit (LOC) to African and other developing countries for another 5 years
    ·        LOC will be provided underIndian Development and Economic Assistance(IDEA) Scheme
    ·        Union Government would make a budgetary provision to the tune of aroundRs. 3,772 crore for this scheme
    3).Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav declared 50 districts as drought-hit districts
    ·        These districts received lesser than60% rain during the2015 Monsoon
    ·        More than33% crops were ruined in these districts
    ·        This decision was taken on the recommendation of anatural calamity committee
    4).Union Government launched the Technology Acquisition and Development Fund (TADF)
    ·        It was launched by Union Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce& IndustryNirmala Sitharaman under theNational Manufacturing Policy (NMP), 2011 in New Delhi
    ·        It will facilitateMicro, Small& Medium Enterprises(MSME) to acquire clean, green and energy efficient technologies
    ·        It will be implemented throughGlobal Innovation and Technology Alliance(GITA)
    ·        GITA is a joint venture company ofCII andDepartment of Science& Technology launched in 2007-08
    ·        TADF will facilitate resource conservation activities in industries located inNational Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ)
    5).2ndWorld Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) started in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

    6).Tata Steel commissioned 1st phase of Kalinganagar steel plant in Orissa
    ·        It was inaugurated by Orissa Chief MinisterNaveen Patnaik inJajpur district
    ·        It is the2ndbiggest plant of Tata Steel
    ·        It is the largestGreenfield steel project in India
    ·        The plant consists ofIndia’s largest blast furnace at 4,330 cubic meters
    ·        The plant spreads across2200 acre land at an investment ofRs 25,000 crore
    7).World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) suspended Russia’s anti-doping agency RUSADA
    ·        Reason– RUSADA was non-compliant with the global body’s anti-doping charter in sports
    ·        This decision would bar Russian track sportspersons from participating in2016 Rio Olympics
    ·        Previously, theInternational Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) had suspended Russia from international competition
    8).United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) won the 2015 Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development

    ·        It was chosen for this award by the international jury of the prize, headed by Vice PresidentHamid Ansari
    ·        It was declared on the occasion of98th birth anniversary of India’sIron Lady Indira Gandhi
    ·        UNHCR is aUnited Nations agency mandated to protect and support refugees
