    NATIONAL:
    1). Week long annualLadakh Festival began atLehin Ladakh region ofJammu& Kashmir to extend the short tourism season of Ladakh
    ·        The festival has been organized by theJammu& Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with the concerned stakeholders
    ·        This festival was started in1980 with the following objectives
    a.   To promote tourism in Ladakh region
    b.   To make it one of the tourist destination of the country
    ·        During the festival the traditional, ethnic, religious and cultural life of the of the people of Ladakh are presented before the tourists along with the following events
    a.   Photo exhibition
    b.   Handicraft exhibition
    c.   Polo match
    d.   Traditional archery
    e.   Music concert

    2). TheElection Commision (EC) introduced the symbol forNone of the Above (NOTA) option to enable the voters in exercising their NOTA option in elections
    o  The symbol for NOTA was designed by theNational Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
    o  Objective of NOTA – to enable the voters who do not wish to vote for any of the candidates but want to exercise their right without violation of the secrecy of their decision
    o  As per theSupreme Court’s order of 27th September 2013, NOTA option was made available to the voters with effect from11thOctober 2013

    INTERNATIONAL:
    3).China successfully launched a newly developed smaller version of carrier rocketLong March-6 from the base in the Northern Province ofShanxias a part of the country’s space program
    o  Long March- 6 is29.3 min length and was carrying20micro satellites into the space
    o  It uses liquid propellant fuel composed ofliquid oxygen andkerosene
    o  It is capable of taking satellites into the orbit at an altitude of700km with carrying capacity ofone ton of payload
    o  It will make China more competitive in the lucrative market for commercial satellite launches
    4).Nepal’s newly adoptedConstitutionmarking the country’s transition to asecular and democratic republic was unveiled by Nepalese PresidentRam Baran Yadav at a ceremony held in Parliament at Kathmandu
    ·        This is the5thconstitution enacted by Nepal where as the previous 4 constitutions were enacted in the following years

    ·        Thenew constitution defines Nepal, a majority Hindu nation as a secular republic divided into 7 federal provinces
    ·        The parliament had adopted the new Constitution by a507-25 votes in the 601 seatConstituent Assembly (CA) after7 years of deliberation
    ·        This new Constitution was supported by the following parties
    a.   CA from Nepal Congress
    b.   Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist – Leninist)
    c.   UPCN – Maoist
    ·        The new Constitution was drafted by the2nd CAelected in2013chaired bySubash Nemwang

    5). A New Government headed by the former Petroleum MinisterSherif Ismailhas been sworn in by theEgypt’s PresidentAbdel-Fattah el-Sissi
    o  This new government came into power after the former Prime MinisterIbrahim Mehleb was accused by the media and prosecutors began investigating government officials for  receiving bribes over 1 million dollars
    o  El-Sissi is the former general and defence minister who led the overthrow of Islamist PresidentMohamed Morsi in 2013
    o  The new Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has been the most celebrated ministers in the former cabinet especially after Italy’sEni Spa discovered thelargest ever oil field in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Egypt

    10). British-American romance novelistJackie Collins passed away in California, United States
    o  She was born as Jacqueline Jill Jackie Collins on 4thOctober 1937 in London, England
    o  She was the younger sister of actressJoan Collins
    o  She had written32novels and all of them made a place in theNew York Times bestsellers list
    o  Debut novel –The World is Full of Married Men published in 1968
    o  Her books have sold over 500 million copies in 40 countries and have been translated into 40 languages
