1). National Good Governance Day is observed on 25th DEC:

·        In India,National Good Governance Day is being observed every year on 25th December on thebirth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipientAtal Bihari Vajpayee.
·        It should be noted that this day is also being observed asPradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Divas.

2). North India’s first cable bridge was inaugurated:

·        North India’s first cable-stayed bridge namedAtal Setu was inaugurated onDunera-Basohli-Bhadharwah road inBasohali town inKathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
·        It was inaugurated by Union Defence MinisterManohar Parrikar along with Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag.

3). Modi inaugurates Afghan parliament building:

·        Prime Minister Narendra inaugurated the parliamentbuilding in Kabul, which was built by India.
·        The parliament building, that was started in 2009 has missed its completion deadlines at least 3 times since 2011, and has gone over-budget by double theoriginal costing of $45 million.

4). Reliance and AlmazAntey to work on missile systems:

·        Reliance Defence Limited andAlmazAntey, Russia’sleading developer and manufacturer ofair defence missile systems, have decided to work jointly on the entire range of air defence missile and radar systems required for the Indian defence forces.
·        AlmazAntey developed the S-400 Triumf air defence system that India plans to buy for Rs. 40,000 crore.

5). Amway India announced Faran Akthar as Nutrilite Brand Ambassador:

·        Direct-sellingFMCG firm Amway India announced Bollywood actorFarhan Akhtar as its brand ambassador to promoteNutrilite range of the products.
·        Nutrilite is a leading brand ofvitamins and dietary supplements.

6). India and Russia have inked 16 cooperation agreements:

·        These agreements were signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two days official visit to Russia. The agreements were signed in the nuclear energy, hydrocarbons, and solar energy, railways and visas sectors.
Some of the agreements signed are:
·        Agreement on cooperation in the field of Helicopter Engineering.
·        Programme of Action Agreed Between for Localization of Manufacturing in India for Russian-Designed Nuclear Reactor Units.
·        The cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy is a cornerstone of the Russia-India strategic partnership.
·        Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical cooperation in railway sectorMoU for construction of solar energy plants in India

7). Syed Kirmani former Indian Wicket-Keeper was nominated for CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award:

·        Popularly known as‘Kojak’ for his Telly Savalas-look, Kirmani will be the 23rd recipient of the award.
·        On January 5 next yearhe will be presented amedal,citation and prize money of Rs. 25 lakh at a function to be held here before the Indian team’s departure to Australia for the five-match ODI and three Twenty20 match series.

8). Veteran actor Sadhana passes away:

·        Veteran Hindi film actorSadhana died on 25 Dec 2015 after a long battle with cancer in Mumbai.
·        She was 74 and is survived by her foster daughter.
·        Sadhana has worked in many films which include hits like “Mera Saaya”, “Ek Musafir Ek Hasina”, “Hum Dono” and “Ek Phool Do Mali.”

9). Steve Smith has been named Cricketer of the Year for 2015:

·        With this, Smith became the 4th Australian and 11th overall playerto win the prestigious award named afterSir Garfield Sobers. He was also adjudged the Test Cricketer of the Year for 2015.

10). ICC provisionally suspended Sri Lanka’s Perera for four-years:

·        Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera faces afour-year ban after the country’s sports minister said the wicketkeeper-batsman’s‘B’sample has also tested positive for a prohibited substance.
·        The International Cricket Council (ICC) provisionally suspended the 25-year-old after he failed an out-of-competition anti-doping test in October.
