    1). Union Communication and IT MinisterRavi Shankar Prasad launched a telemedicine initiative named‘Sehat’to provide health facilities in rural areas in partnership with theApollo Hospitals
    ·        It will provide quality and affordable health care services in rural areas
    ·        This will enable people to consult doctors through a video link ‘Voice Over Internet Protocol(VoIP) and also order generic drugs
    ·        Common Service Centers(CSC) will be set up for delivering tele-consultation services with the support of the following hospitals
    a) Medanta Hospitals
    b) Apollo Hospitals
    ·        The Union Health Ministry in collaboration with the CSCs will set up Jan Aushadhi Stores to sell generic drugs and provide diagnostic services
    ·        This initiative has been extended to60,000 centers across the country

    2). India andAustraliasigned a MoU on cooperation in the fields of education, research and training
    ·        This MoU aims to open up new and innovative areas of cooperation between both the countries in the following fields
    a)   Higher education& research
    b)   Professional& technical education
    c)   Vocational education
    d)   Schools& training
    ·        The MoU was signed by the following dignitaries
    a)   Smriti Irani – India’s Union Minister of Human Resource Development
    b)   Christopher Pyne M. P. – Australian Minister for Education and Training
    ·        It was signed after the3rd meeting of theAustralia-India Education Council(AIEC)held in New Delhi
    a)   AIEC – bi-national body established in2011 by the Educational Ministers of India and Australia to guide the strategic direction of education, research and training partnership between the two countries
    b) AIEC meetings are held in conjunction with the annualAustralia-India Ministerial Dialogue on Education Cooperation

    3).Union Minister of State(MoS) for HomeKiren Rijijiu announced plans to implement theSendai framework forDisaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in letter and spirit
    ·        Sendai framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030
    a)   It was adopted after the3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Sendai, Japan in March 2015
    b)   It involves adopting integrated and inclusive institutional measures in order to work towards preventing vulnerability to disaster
    c)   It seeks to increase preparedness for response, recovery and strengthen resilience in case of disaster
    ·        The Union minister announced this after he inaugurated a workshop onEnhancing Private Sector Partnershipfor Disaster Risk Reduction in New Delhi

    4). TheRegistrar General and Census Commissioner released the2011 census date on religion which states that the totalMuslimpopulation in India hasincreased by 0.8% and theHindu population hasdeclined by 0.7%

    c)   Muslims –17.22 crores
    d)   Christians –2.78 crores
    ·        Overall decadal population growth rate –17.7%

    5). Prime MinisterNarendra Modi launched commemorativecoin of 100 rupees andcirculation coin of 5 rupees of freedom fighterRani Gaidinliu at herbirth centenary celebrations event inaugurated by him
    ·        Rani Gaidinliu was born on26th January 1915 in Nungkao (Rongmei village) in northeastern state ofManipur
    ·        She was aNaga political and spiritual leader who led revolts against British colonial rule in India
    ·        Her political struggle was based onGandhian principles of Satyagraha, non-violence and self reliance
    ·        She played an important role in spreading messages of Gandhiji in Manipur regions
    ·        She participated in the freedom struggle at a very young age of 13 under the influence of theHeraka religious movement
    ·        Heraka Religious Movement – movement launched by her cousinHaipou Jadonangto reform theZealiangrong Naga communities
    ·        She was considered as incarnation of thegoddess Cherachamdinliu in this movement
    ·        At the age of16 she was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment by the British government in1932
    ·        Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru met her atShillong Jail in1937and gave her the title of‘Rani’
    ·        She was released from jail after India’s independence in 1947

    6). The Union government announced the names of the recipients of Dronacharya Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar  for the year 2015

    a)   It is an award given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the excellence in sports coaching
    b)   The award comprises of a bronze statuette, a scroll of honor and a cash award of Rs. 5,00,000
    c)   The recipients of this award in the year 2015 are as follows
          Naval Singh – Athletics Para-sports coach
          Anoop Singh – Wrestling coach
          Harbas Singh – Athletics coach
          Swatantar Raj Singh – Boxing coach
          Nihar Ameen – Swimming coach
    ·        Dhyan Chand Awards 2015
    a)   This award is given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for lifetime achievement in sports and games
    b)   The award is named after the legendary Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand
    c)   The award comprises of a plaque, a scroll of honor and a cash award of Rs. 5,00,000
    d)   The recipients of this award this year are as follows
    ·        Romeo James – Hockey
    ·        Shiv Prakash Mishra – Tennis
    ·        P. P. Nair – Volleyball
    ·        Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2015
    a)   The awardees will receive certificates and trophies
    b)   The awardees are follows
    ·        Directorate General of Military Training(DGMT) – for identifying and nurturing of young talent in sports
    ·        Coal India Limited(CIL) – for encouraging sports through Corporate Social Responsibility
    ·        Haryana State Police – for employing sportspersons and sports welfare measures
