    NATIONAL:
    1). India and Egypt signed two MoUs in the fields of Tourism and Science&Technology
    ·        India is Egypt’s 6thlargest trading partner
    ·        Top 5 Indian exports to Egypt are as follows
    a)   Meat
    b)   Petroleum products
    c)   Transport equipment
    d)   Cotton yarns and instruments
    ·        These 2-MoUs were signed during the visit of Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to Egypt
    ·        MoU on Cooperation in the field of Tourism
    a)   It aims to enhance the bilateral cooperation in the fields of
    ·        Tourism
    ·        Hospitality
    ·        Human Resource Development (HRD)
    b)   It will also help in establishing a Joint Working Group(JWG)
    ·        MoU on Scientific and Technical Cooperation
    a)   It aims to support extension and promotion of cooperation in Technology Development and Scientific Research in fields of mutual interes
    b)   The MoU was signed by India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR) and Egypt’s National Research Center(NRC)

    2). Union Cabinet approved the inclusion of Sipai, Patni, Jamat, Kahar and Tanwar Singhariya in the list of Other Backward Classes(OBC) list
    ·        This decision to make amendments in the OBC list was taken by the Union Government on advice of the National Commission for Backward Classes(NCBC)
    ·        NCBC Act, 1993 – commission to examine requests for inclusion of an communities/castes in the OBC list
    ·        After examining the requests the NCBC will advice the government about its decision
    ·        As of now, about 2404 castes/sub-castes have been notified in the Central list of OBC
    ·        The recently added communities are from the states of Gujarat and Uttarkhand namely
    a)   Gujarat – Sipai, Patni, Jamat/Turk Jamat
    b)   Uttarkhand – Kahar, Tanwar Singhariya

    3).India signed an information exchange agreement with Seychelles to curb black money by eradicating tax evasion
    ·        Seychelles – a preferred offshore haven for routing of funds though FDI was Rs. 1000 crores over the last 15 years
    ·        This agreement will help India to keep a check on tax evasion and also will allow mutual assistance between the authorities of the two countries to take action on the tax evaders
    ·        The agreement was signed by the following dignitaries
    a)   Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
    b)   Seychelles President James Alix Michel
    ·        5-more agreements signed between the two countries which are as follows
    a)   Presentation of Navigational chart related to Aldabra island
    b)   Air Services Agreement
    c)   MoU to provide one Dornier Maritime Aircraft – India to gift Seychelles one Dornier Maritime Aircraft
    d)   MoU for Cooperation in agricultural research and education – it was signed between the Indian Council of Agriculture Research(ICAR) and Seychelles’s Agricultural Agency
    e)   Protocol on framework of cooperation in the field of Blue Economy

    4).Union cabinet gave permission to make amendments to the Arbitration and Conciliation Bill 2015
    ·        These amendments will be made according to the Law Commission’s recommendations and stakeholder’s suggestions
    ·        Law Commission of India in its 246threport suggested these amendments to enable India to become a hub in International Commercial Arbitration
    ·        Amendments of Bill
    a)   Mandatory for arbitrators to settle disputes within 1 year. This period can be extended by 6 months only by a court
    b)   Cut the fees of arbitrators if the court finds out that the delay was made by the arbitrators
    c)   Extra fees to arbitrators if the matter is disposed of within 6 months and the parties agree to pay more
    d)   Empowers arbitration tribunal to grant all kinds of interim measures that courts provide

    5). ISRO successfully launches GSLV-D6 carrying GSAT-6 satellite in Sriharikota
    ·        GSAT-6 is one of India’s geostationary satellites which will provide communication through 5-spot beams in S-band and a national beam in C-band for strategic users
    a)   S-Band Unfurlable Antenna – largest satellite antenna released by ISRO. It is 6m in diameter and is used for 5 spot beams over the Indian main land
    b)   The Spot beams uses the frequency reuse scheme to increase frequency spectrum utilization efficiency
    ·        It is the 2nd mission of GSLV during the last 5 years after 2 rockets failed in 2010 namely
    a)   One rocket with Indian cryogenic engine
    b)   One rocket with Russian engine
    ·        This is the 3rd time this indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage(CUS) is carried onboard during a GSLV flight
    ·        The GSLV-D6 was successfully launched from Satish Dawan Space Centre at ISRO in Sriharikota

    6). Union Cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a 4 month extension i.e., upto 31st December 2015 to the 7th Pay Commission headed by Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur
    ·        The pay commission was constituted by the Central Government in February 2014 was it was supposed to submit its report by 27th August 2015
    ·        The commission requested for an extension of 4 months due to volume of work and intensive stakeholder’s suggestions
    ·        The 6th pay commission was headed by Justice B. N. Srikrishna

    7). The Union Government releases the Smart Cities list under the 100 Smart Cities Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
    ·        A list of 98 cities that will be a part of the Smart Cities Project was released by the Union Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu
    ·        Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi launched the criteria and rules for the 100 Smart Cities to be selected by the City Challenge Competition in June 2015
    ·        Except Jammu& Kashmir all other states had finalized the names of proposed Smart Cities
    ·        The Government to provide financial support of over Rs. 40,000 crores in a span of 5 years
    ·        The list of 98 cities includes
    a)   13 cities – Uttar Pradesh
    b)   12 cities – Tamil Nadu
    c)   10 cities – Maharashtra
    d)   7 cities – Madhya Pradesh
    e)   3 cities – Bihar
    f)    3 cities – Andhra Pradesh

    8). The 2-times Asian Championships gold medalist Vikas Gowda entered the discus throw finals at the World Athletics Championships
    ·        He was the only Indian who was in action on 27th August 2015 at the World Athletics meet
    ·        In the Group A of the qualifiers he threw a 63.86m in his 1st attempt
    ·        Out of the total 31 participants the number of players qualified from both Group A& B are as follows
    a)   Group A – 7
    b)   Group B – 5
    ·        Vikas Gowda had set an Indian national record of a best throw of 66.28m at Norman, United States in 2012
