    1).A newTsunami Early Warning System Sireninstalled at theMeteorology Office of Western Naval Command byIndian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) was successfully tested nearINS Angre
    ·        It has a digital electronic board fitted in the system which gives out data about the approaching tsunami
    ·        The system has a radical range of3 kms in all directions and gives continuous hoot for60 secondsduring emergency
    ·        Controlling agency –Hyderabad based INCOIS
    ·        7 tsunami buoys with sensors will record the speed and height of waves
    ·        The warning siren will provide precise tsunami alert to the following agencies to prevent the possible damage
    a)   Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)
    b)   Indian Navy
    c)   Disaster management authorities
    ·        It has been tested nearly11 years after theBoxing Day tsunami which had hit the east coast of India and had killed more than 10,000 people

    2).TheReserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that theForeign Institutional Investors (FIIs) orRegistered Foreign Portfolios Investors (RFPIs) can now invest up to74% of the paid up capital ofDEN Networks Limited under thePortfolio Investment Scheme (PIS)
    ·        This announcement was made under theForeign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999
    ·        DEN Networks Limited passed resolutions at itsBoard of Director’s level agreeing to enhance the limit for the purchase of its equity shares and convertible debentures by FIIs/RFPIs
    ·        The purchases could be made throughprimary market andstock exchanges
    ·        The purchases would be subject toRegulation 5(2) ofFEMA Notification and other terms and conditions stipulated by theRBI

    3).A powerful earthquake of magnitude7.5on the Richter scale centred at196 kmdeep beneath theHindu Kush Mountainshit the Hindukush region of north-easternAfghanistanandPakistan
    ·        It was centred82 km southeast ofFeyzabad district in Afghanistan’s sparsely populatedBadakhshan province bordering with the following countries

    b)   Tajikistan

    ·        Tremors from this earthquake were felt in northernIndia andTajikistan
    ·        Tectonic activity in Western Himalayas region Western Himalayas region is one of the most dangerous seismic zones in the world
    ·        In this region, Indian tectonic plate under the Himalayas is getting sub-ducted under theEurasian tectonic plate atPamirMountains with a rate of4-5cm per year

    4).The3rd India-Africa forum summit(IAFS) one of the largest gatherings of African countries outside Africa in which all 54 nations of the continent will be participating began inNew Delhi on 26 October 2015
    ·        Duration of summit – from 26 October to 30 October 2015
    ·        Previously, this summit was scheduled inDecember 2014 in New Delhi, but it was postponed to October 2015 due to deadlyEbola outbreak in few western African countries
    ·        IAFS– an official platform for the African-Indian relations that is held every3 years and the venue is selected on rotational basis from both sides
    ·        Agenda of the summit

    5).It covers various fields including agricultural sector, trade, industry and investment, peace and security, promotion of good governance and civil society, information and communication technology (ICT) etc
    ·        Features of 3rd IAFS Logo
    a) It depicts aLion with one half of anIndian lion and another half ofAfrican lion
    b)   In the background of logo, anAfrican map is overlapped with Indian map as a reference to ancientGondwanalanddepicting Indian subcontinent was part of today’s Africa’s continental landmass

    6).China successfully launched theTianhui-1C, a3rd mapping satellite of theTianhui-1 series into its designated orbit usingLong March 2Dcarrier rocket from theJiuquanlaunching base located in the country’s northwesternGansu province
    ·        The1stTianhui 1 mapping satellite of the series was launched inAugust 2010
    ·        It is Long March rockets series’215th successful launch
    ·        The following are theapplications of the Tianhui-1C satellite
    a)   To enhance the China’s ability to carry out scientific research, mapping and disaster relief
    b)   It will be also used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, mapping, crop yield estimation and disaster relief
    ·        The satellite was developed and produced under the auspices ofChina Aerospace Science and Technology Corp (CASTC) which is China’s primary launch vehicle and satellite contractor

    ·        This was her4th World Cup Final silver medal

    ·        Previously, Deepika had won it after being runner-up at the Archery World Cup Final held in the following venues

    ·        India has won2 silver medals withAbhishek Verma opening the account for the country in the compound section in this event

    9).Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfareincreased the delegated financial powers of designated Central Government Hospitals and institutes toRs. 5 lakhper patient under theRashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) scheme
    ·        Objective– to reduce the procedural delays for treatment, which would bring relief to thousands of patients annually
    ·        Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi was set up in1997 to provide financial assistance to patients, livingBelow Poverty Line(BPL)
    ·        After this increase in funds,only cases for financial assistance beyond Rs. 5 lakh would now be required to be referred to the Ministry from the earlier upper limit ofRs. 2 lakh per patient
