    1).Union Law Ministry notifiedDelhi High Court about theAmendment Act, 2015which was passed by Parliament in August, 2015 to amend theDelhi High Court Act, 1966 in order to reduce the workload of the Delhi High Court
    ·        The following are theobjectives of the Amendment Act
    a)   To reduce the burden of Delhi High Court
    b)   To substantively improve disposal of cases insubordinate Courts
    c)   To facilitate access of the general public toDistrict Courtsensuring speedy justice to litigants at their door steps
    d)   To enhance pecuniary jurisdiction of the District Courts of Delhi fromRs. 20 lakh to Rs. 2 crore
    e)   To empower theChief Justice (CJ) of the Delhi High Court to transfer any pending suit to a relevant subordinate court
    2).Union Government constituted a committee to simplify the provisions of theIncome Tax Act (IT), 1961 under the Chairmanship of former Delhi High Court Judge,Justice R.V. Easwar
    ·        The following are the other9 Members of the committee
    a)   V.K. Bhasin, Vinod Jain, Rajiv Memani, Ravi Gupta
    b)   Mukesh Patel, Ajay Bahl, Pradip P. Shah, Arvind Modi, Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh
    ·        Term of the Committee –one year
    ·        The Committee is expected tosuggest modifications and alternatives to the existing provisions and identified areas in order to bring predictability and certainty in tax laws without substantial impact on the revenue collection and tax base
    ·        The Committee willstudy and identify the following issues
    a)   Provisions in theIT Act, 1961 which are leading to litigation due to different interpretations
    b)   The areas and provisions of the Act which needs simplification in the light of the existing jurisprudence
    c)   Provisions which are impacting the ease of doing business
    ·        The Committee will set up its own procedures for regulating its work and will put its draft recommendations in the public domain in batches after consulting stakeholders
    ·        The First Batch shall be submitted by31st January, 2016 and shall contain as many recommendations as possible
    3).Telanganastate Agriculture MinisterShrinivasa Reddy inaugurated the8thedition ofNational Seed Congress(NSC) organized byUnion Agriculture Ministry inHyderabad to deliberate on advanced seed development technologies and regulatory measures
    ·        NSC– It is an annual event organised by Union Agriculture Minister  in different states
    ·        Aim– To provide common platform to all stakeholders to discuss a variety of issues including advances in seed development technologies and various seed policies with respect to the seed industry
    ·        Over600 delegates are taking part from national and international research and development agencies such asICRISAT
    ·        Over12 breakout sessions are being organised along with a special session dedicated for seed development to promoteTelangana as the seed bowl of the country
    ·        About80 progressive farmers involved in the seed development are also going to take part in the congress
    4).Indiaplaced at130th position among the189 countries in the recently releasedWorld Bank’s 2016 rankings ofEase of Doing Business Report
    ·        India has moved up by4 spots in the global rankings compared to earlier 134th rank in recalculated 2015 rankings
    ·        Ease of Doing Business ranking – It is annually released by World Bank in its Doing Business Report
    ·        Ranking of country in this list is based on index averages the country’s percentile rankings on the following10 indicators each having equal weightage
    a)   Business, getting electricity, dealing with construction permits, registering property, protecting investors
    b)   Getting credit, employing workers, trading across borders, paying taxes, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency
    ·        A higher ranking of country in this list means that its regulatory environment is more conducive and favourable for the starting and operation of firms
    ·        India is one of the countries that have made the biggest improvement among theSouth-Asian countries in business regulations
    ·        India has made large improvements in the following 2 indicators
    a)   Starting a business –155th rank
    b)   Getting electricity –70th rank

    5).The4th edition ofSri Lanka-India bilateral naval exerciseSLINEX 2015 began in the Trincomalee coast of Sri Lanka
    ·        The following are theobjectives of SLINEX 2015
    a)   To reinforce the strong neighbourly ties underscored by extensive maritime interaction
    b)   To improved understanding between neighbouring both countries
    c)   To enhance the capability of both navies to work together at sea and contribute towards maritime security in the region
    ·        It consists of the following 2 phases
    a)   Harbour Phase – both participant navies were engaged in professional, cultural and social interactions
    b)   Sea Phase – complex operations including anti-piracy exercises, cross-deck helicopter operations, gun firings and anti-surface exercises will be undertaken
    ·        Indian Navyis represented by the following will take part in the exercise
