    RBI IN NEWS:
    1). RBI released report of Deepak Mohanty Committee on Medium-term Path on Financial Inclusion:

    ·        The committee was constituted on 15 July 2015 by the RBI with the objective ofworking out a medium-term (five year) measurable action planfor financial inclusion.
    ·       The14-member committee was headed by RBI Executive DirectorDeepak Mohanty.

    NATIONAL:
    2). ‘Make in India Week’ to start from Feb 13:

    ·        Taking a cue from the biennial investor congregation –Vibrant Gujarat Summit – held every alternate year in Gujarat the Central Government is organising“Make in India Week” in Mumbai during February 13-18, 2016.
    ·        The week-long event, being organised by theDepartment of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will have investors meet for the manufacturing sector under Make in India.

    3). Civil Aviation Ministry gave clearance for four green-field airports:

    ·        The Ministry has also given its green signal for development of a greenfield airport inNellore and Kurnool districts of Andhra Pradeshunder a public-private partnership.
    ·        The site clearance, which is the first clearance, was given on 28 December 2015 for theBhogapuram airport in Andhra Pradesh which is about 40 km from Vizag.

    4). Report of Vijay Kelkar Committee on Revisiting& Revitalizing PPP Model released:

    ·        The Union Ministry of Finance released the report of the Committee on Revisiting and RevitalisingPublic Private Partnership (PPP) Model.
    ·        The 9-member committee was headed by formerFinance Secretary Vijay Kelkar and submitted its report on 19 November 2015.
    ·        At present, over12007 PPP projects are under implementation across the country, involving about7.2 lakh crore rupees worth of investment.

    5). Bharat Petroleum commissioned Crude Distillation unit in Mumbai:

    ·        Bharat Petroleum commissioned a new6-million tons Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) at its Mumbai refinery, which will take the capacity of its oldest facility to 12 million tons per annum.
    ·        The new state of the art CDU that came at a cost of1419cr rupeesis areplacement of old Crude and Vacuum units of the refinery.

    6). Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) launch e-office:

    ·        Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) have introduced e-office, an initiative which will help provide efficient services to the people by digitizing more than 12,000 files.
    ·        It was formally launched byWCD Minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi in New Delhi on the lines with the spirit ofGood Governance initiative of Union Government.

    7). Union Government links LPG subsidy to incomes:
    ·        The LPG subsidy will not be available to LPG consumers if the consumer or his/her spouse hastaxable income of more than ten lakh rupees. This income would be as per the previous financial year computed under Income Tax Act, 1961.
    ·        This move will affect at least60 lakh LPG consumers of the total 16.5 crore LPG consumers in the country and Government will save uptoRs. 113 crore from this decision.

    8). Maharashtra CM inaugurates new police commissionerate:

    ·        The Chief Minister of MaharashtraDeevndra Fadnavis inaugurated the newpolice commissionerate building with top notch facilities atCrawford market.

    INTERNATIONAL:
    9). 18th India-Iran Joint Commission Meeting held in New Delhi:

    ·        The session was co-chaired byExternal Affairs Minister of India (EAM) SushmaSwaraj and Ali Tayebnia, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran.
    ·        Both the leaders reviewed the progress in trade and economic cooperation and a number of related matters.
    ·        They also discussed the possibilities in cooperation in railways, including by supply of rails, rolling stock and signaling.

    10). Guinea declared free of Ebola virus that killed over 2,500:
    ·        People in the capital,Conakry, greeted the declaration by authorities and theU.N. World Health Organisation with mixed emotions given the deaths and the damage the virus did to the economy and the country’s health and education sectors.

    BANKING NEWS:
    11). India Post payment bank to be operational by March 2017:
    ·        India Post, which was among the eleven applicants to have received approval from RBI for payment banks in August, will start its service by March 2017,Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasadannounced.
    ·        About 40 international financial conglomerates includingWorld Bank, Barclays and ICICI have shown interest to partner with thePostal Department for the payment bank.

    BUSINESS NEWS:
    12). CCI proposed Fairfax’s additional 9% stake buy in ICICI Lombard:

    ·        The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has clearedPremWatsa run Fairfax Financial Holdings’ proposed acquisition of additional nine per cent stake in ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company for an estimatedRs. 1,550 crore.
    ·        Following the transaction, Fairfax will hold 35 per cent in ICICI Lombard, while ICICI Bank will have about 64 per cent stake.

    OBITURY:
    13). Renowned science-fiction writer George Clayton Johnson died:

    ·        Popular science-fiction writerGeorge Clayton Johnson, who penned the script for the firstStar Trek episode, The Man Trap, passed away on 25 December 2015 due to cancer in Los Angeles, California. He was 86.
    ·       Born on 10 July 1929 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Johnson debuted into the entertainment business in 1959 when he wrote theI’ll Take Care of Youepisode forAlfred Hitchcock Presents.

    14). Oscar-winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler passed away:

    ·        He was best known for his work in films like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and American Graffiti.

    APPOINTMENTS:
    15). Amitabh Kant got additional charge of CEO of NITI Aayog:

    ·        The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, presided by Prime Minister NarendraModi, gaveAmitabh Kant the additional responsibility of beingChief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog.
    ·        Kant will replace the incumbent NITI Aayog CEOSindhushreeKhullarwhose extended tenure will end on 31 December 2015.

    16). Karan Adani appointed as CEO of Adani Ports and SEZ:

    ·        Karanwill take over the post from outgoing CEOSudipta Bhattacharya, who is moving to the US to take over a Group position as CEO, North America.
    ·        Karan is theeldest son of the Adani Group’s founder chairman GautamAdani. An economics graduate from Purdue University, US, Karan has been associated with the group’s ports business since 2009.

    17). J.A.Chowdary has been appointed as IT Advisor to Andhra Pradesh:

    ·        He is anInformation Technology expert and FICCI co-chairmanof AP and Telengana.
    ·        He will also serve asex-officio secretary to Government in the Chief Ministers Office.

    20). Globe Soccer Awards 2015 were presented in Dubai:
