    1).Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to issue coins ofRs. 5 denomination to mark the golden jubilee year ofIndo-Pak War 1965 underThe Coinage Act, 2011

    2).IndiaandAustralia have agreed to strengthen theirbilateral defence partnership by setting up a joint working group ondefence research andmaterial cooperation
    ·        They have agreed to implement theFramework for Security Cooperation(FSC) action plan
    ·        India will take part in the1st everair exercise with Australia
    ·        They will focus onmaritime security in theIndian Ocean region
    ·        The1st bilateral Maritime exerciseAUSINDEXbetween India and Australia to be held inSeptember 2015
    ·        This decision of strengthening their defence partnership was taken by both the governments after the delegation level talks between the following dignitaries
    a.   Union Defence Minister –Manohar Parrikar
    b.   Australian Defence Minister –Keven Andrews

    3).Union Ministry of Home Affairs cancelled the license of Greenpeace India to receive foreign donations underSection 13 ofForeign Contribution Regulations Act (FCRA) 2011
    ·        Greenpeace India – a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that mainly concentrates in the following 4 campaigns namely
    a.   Stop climate change
    b.   Preserving the oceans
    c.   Sustainable agriculture
    d.   Preventing another nuclear catastrophe
    ·        Due to thecancellation of license Greenpeace India will not be able to receive any kind of foreign donations from its international networks
    ·        InApril 2015 the ministry has suspended the license of Greenpeace India for 6 months for the following reasons
    a.   Mixing foreign and domestic funds
    b.   Not disclosing the movement of its funds
    ·        TheDelhi High Court had allowed the NGO to use2of its accounts for receiving and utilizing fresh domestic donations in response to the petition filed by Greenpeace India challenging the suspension

    4).ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL) the overseas investment arm ofOil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) bought15% stake in Russia’s 2nd largest oil fieldVankor from the Russian national oil companyRosneftfor1.35 billion dollars
    ·        This is the4thbiggest acquisition of OVL
    ·        OVL will get 2 seats in theBoard of Directors of Vankor
    ·        15% stake of the oil field Vankor located inEast Siberia will yield3.5 million metric tones of oil per year
    ·        Rosneft will still retain full control of infrastructure of the Vankor cluster
    ·        The agreement to buy the stake in Vankor was signed by the following dignitaries in Vladivostok
    a.   OVL Managing Director– Narendra Verma
    b.   Chairman of Rosneft Management Board –Igor Sechin

    5).Disaster Mitigation Conference of member countries ofSouth Asian Association on Regional Cooperation (SAARC) began in New Delhi on 3rd September 2015
    ·        Objective of the Disaster Mitigation Conference
    a.   To undertake efforts on various issues related to disaster mapping and mitigation
    b.   To address the issue of geo-climatic conditions and the increased frequency of natural disaster and calamities in the SAARC region
    c.   To enhance the levels of preparedness and risk resilience among the member countries
    d.   To seek collaborative actions among the member countries to deal the disaster situations and ensure minimal loss of lives and property
    ·        South Asian Annual Disaster Management Exercise (SAADMEx)
    a.   Indiahas taken the lead to begin SAADMEx an exercise on disaster management
    b.   It is conducted in2-phases
    c.   1stphase – current coordination conference where the requirements and modalities of the main exercise will be dicussed
    d.   2ndphase – main exercise to be held from23rd to 26th November 2015 in Delhi
    e.   The 3 components of 2ndphase are as follows
    Table Top Exercise (TTx)
    Field Training Exercise (FTx)
    After Action Review(AAR)

    6).The Punjab Government established a specialMGNREGA cell to implement theNational Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme effectively
    ·        It was established by the Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Department forRs. 233 crores in Chandigarh
    ·        This cell will monitor the following functions
    a.   Implementation of Government’s100 days employment guarantee scheme of MGNREGA
    b.  The wage rate under the MGNREGA fixed by the government based on theconsumer Price Index – Agriculture Labourers (CPI-AL)
    7).Haryana Government won theSkoch Order of Merit National Award for implementing 6 e-Governance and IT initiatives in the state
    ·        The award will be presented on22-23 September 2015 as announced by the Haryana Chief MinisterManohar Lal Khattar
    ·        The Haryana Government as notified163 e-Governance services which would be delivered to the citizens at their doorsteps
    ·        TheSkoch Order of Merit national award is given by theSkoch Consultancy Services Private Limitedto the top performing government and private organizations working with the government

    8). Former Chief Minister of GoaDr. Wilfred de Souza passed away inPanaji
    ·        He was aDoctor by profession withdouble fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Britain
    ·        He had served as Chief Minister of Goa for3 times as follows
    a.   From May 1993 – April 1994
    b.   April 1994 – November 1998
    c.   February  1999 – July 1999
    ·        He also served asDeputy Chief Minister of Goa in the Congress Government from February 2005 to June 2007
