    2).National Green Tribunal(NGT) Bench headed by ChairmanJustice Swatanter Kumar banned age-old agricultural practice ofstraw burning inNew Delhi and4 north western states to control global warming and the environmental pollution
    ·        The following are the4 north western states where straw burning was banned
    a)   Punjab
    b)   Haryana
    c)   Rajasthan
    d)   Uttar Pradesh
    ·        Straw Burning – an age-old agricultural practice followed by farmers biannually by setting fire to their fields to clear the land of residue of one harvest and sow the next
    ·        It is mainly carried out in the month ofNovember to save time under the rice-wheat crop rotation and to make the land more fertile and kill pests
    ·        Straw burning is making the atmosphere inDelhi more blinding and suffocating as smoke from it moves towards the city
    ·        It emits the followinggases along withparticulate matter
