    2). 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature – Svetlana Alexievich
    ·        The Belarusian writer Svetlana Alaxievich has won theNobel prize for literatureand takes sum of 8 million Swedish Kronor, whose oral histories have recorded thousands of individual voices to map the implosion of the Soviet Union.
    ·        She becomes the 14th woman to win the prize since it was awarded in 1901
    3). Abiraaj, teams up with Aditya Birla for the Indian Solar investment
    ·        Abiraaj Group, Dubai based private equity firm andIndia’s Aditya Birla group have agreed to invest jointly in building and operatingnew solar power plants in India, aimed to generate 100gigaWatts by 2022, a 33 folds rise from current levels
    ·        Aditya Birla group is anIndian Multinational company and third largest in Indian private sector

    4). Construction of National war Memorial approved by union cabinet in Delhi
    ·        The Union Cabinet approved the construction ofNational War Memorial and a National war Museum in memory of all Indian soldiers who have made the sacrifice for the country post independence atPrincess Park near India Gate,New Delhi
    ·        The project cost will be around500 crores rupees and entire project completion is estimated to be 5 years

    5). NGT has directed all the commercial vehicles that are entering Delhi to pay environmental tax
    ·        National Green Tribunaldirected to chargeenvironmental tax in addition to the toll tax on Trucks that areentering Delhi
    ·        The main source of inferior quality of air in Delhi is due to vehicular pollution and Delhi is the highest polluting city in the world
    ·        The amount would be payable at the rate ofRs 700 for two-axle vehicles,Rs.1000 for three-axle and Rs.500 for four axle and above to Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) which will maintain separate account
    ·        NGT directed Central pollution Control Board (CPCB) and DPCC to purchase instruments for checking emission of moving vehicles

    6). Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights defenders – Ahmed Mansoor
    ·        United Arab Emirates activist Ahmed Mansoor has won theMartin Ennals Award for Human Rights defendersand receives prize of20,000 Swiss francs but could not collect the award in Geneva due to travel ban.
    ·        Mansoor has been campaigned for freedom of expression and greater political and civil rights in the United Arab Emirates.
    ·        The Martin Ennals Award is named after the late British lawyer who became the first head of the Human rights organization, Amnesty International

    7). The Union cabinet approved proposals to set up 3 AIIMS
    ·        The Union Cabinet cleared proposals to set up3 new AIIMS –All India Institutes of Medical Science  atNagpur in Maharashtra , Manglagiri in Andhra Pradesh and kalyani in West Bengalunder thePradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana at a cost ofRs. 4,949 crores

    8). Union cabinet gave its approval for the Indian Skill Development Services
    ·        Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved for the formation ofGroup A services of the technical cadre of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
    ·        The new service named as theIndianDevelopment Skill Services, earlier Directorate General of Employment& Training, and Ministry of labor employment

    9). SC refuses to modify order restricting use of Aadhaar card
    ·        Supreme Court bench headed by Justice J Chelameswar refused to modify its interim order and allow bodies like Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, to allow voluntary use of Aadhaar card for welfare schemes other than the public distribution system and LPG schemes and this modification will be heard by a larger constitution bench of Supreme Court

    10). CCEA approves World Bank Assisted project – Neeranchal for watershed project
    ·        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to
    ·        To implementNational Watershed Management Project “Neeranchal” assisted by World Bank with total cost ofRs 2142.30 crores(Government’s share-Rs.1071.15 crores ) in national level as well as 9 states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telengana
    ·        The main objective of Neeranchal for watershed component of Pradhan mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana access irrigation to every farm and efficient use of water(One drop More crop)

    11). Union government has approved the protocol amending the DTAC with Israel and Vietnam
    ·        Union cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi decided to approve the protocol amending thedouble taxation Avoidance Convention withIsrael and Vietnam
    ·        This agreement will prevent fiscal avoidance with respect to taxes on income

    12). Chairman of Inter-governmental panel for Climate change- Hoesung Lee
    ·        South KoreanHoesung Lee has been appointed as the new headof Inter-governmental panel for Climate change (IPCC) at its ongoing meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia by 78 votes defeating Jean Pascal van Ypersele from Belgium
    ·        He is thefourth personto lead the IPCC in its 27 year history
    ·        IPCC is a scientific intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations and it was first established in 1988 by two united nations organization , the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

    13). China launches International Payment system to globalize Yuan
    ·        China launched the first phase ofChina International Payment System(CIPS) in   strengtheningYuan’s global usage. It will enhance efficiency and increase global use of the Chinese currency

    14). India ranks last in quality death index
    ·        A new report released on globalPalliative care has namedIndiaas one of theworst place to die which ranks at number 40 and Britain the best ranks at 1st  by the Economic Intelligence Unit, titled‘The quality of  Death : Ranking end-of –life care across the world’
    ·        According to the report, in India less than 1 % is spent on healthcare so it’s not only Palliative care that suffers but also no public funding, no socialized medicine

    ·        First Indian company Nualgi, in the field of nano Biotechnology has won thepopular choice Award atClimate CoLab of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),Cambridge
    ·        It submitted 2 proposals to reduce power and fuel consumption for sewage treatment and reuse of water built around their nano scale product called Nualgi

    16). China to build four submarines in Pakistan as part of defence deal
    ·        China will build four of the eight submarines in the port city of Karachi under a defence deal signed with Pakistan. China would also transfer the technology to Pakistan for submarine construction
