    1).Union Governmentsigned a273 million dollar loan agreement with theAsian Development Bank (ADB) to improverural roadsin 5 Indian states
    ·        The loan constitutes the3rd andlast part of the800 million dollar financing facility under theRural Connectivity Investment Programme
    ·        This loan will help to construct6000km of all weather rural roads in the following 5 states benefitting4200rural habitations

    ·        TheMinistry of Rural Development is the executing agency of the project at the central level
    2).Boeing entered into a joint venture withTata Advanced Systems to manufactureaero-structures for aircraft and collaborate on integrated systems development opportunities in India

    a)   To create a manufacturing center of excellence to produce aero-structures for theAH-64 Apache helicopter
    b)   To compete for additional manufacturing work packages across Boeing platforms, both commercial and defense
    ·        Tata Advanced Materials has delivered composite panels for the power and mission equipment cabinets and auxiliary power unit door fairings for theP-8I long-range maritime surveillance andanti-submarine warfare aircraft
    ·        TAL Manufacturing Solutions is manufacturing complex floor beams out of composite materials for theBoeing 787
    3).India successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable strategic ballistic missileAgni-IV from the launchcomplex-4ofIntegrated Test Range (ITR) atAbdul Kalam Island along Orissa coast
    ·        The following are thefeatures of Agni – IV missile
    a)   It is an indigenously developedsurface-to-surface 2-stage weapon system
    b)   It is capable of hitting a target at a distance of4,000 km
    c)   It is20 m long and weighs17 tonnes
    d)   It is equipped with5th generation onboard computer and distributed architecture
    e)   It has the latest features to correct and guide itself for in-flight disturbance
    ·        The test was conducted byStrategic Force Command (SFC) of the army

    ·        It is available through especially developed mobile app interface on Android, IOS and windows platforms for wider access

    ·        It will help all schools to assess themselves and the results can be seen by all enabling them to provide feedback
    ·        The initiative has already been successfully piloted in 4 districts of Tamil Nadu

    ·        It is a tool which allows the schools to identify areas of improvement in students, teachers and curriculum to facilitate and implement change

    ·        It depictsNetaji Subhash Chandra Bose as an unseen holy man ofFaizabad in disguise who lived in several parts ofUttar Pradesh from1050s to 1980s
    ·        The book provides 3 prominent theories of Netaji’s death zeroing in on what has come to be known as theFaizabad angle of the Bose mystery
    ·        It talks about the controversy surrounding the fate of Subhas Chandra Bose and lights the factual position with regard to the air crash that reportedly killed Netaji in1945
    ·        It also questions the truth behindSubramaniun Swamy’s belief that Netaji was killed in Soviet Russia at Jawaharlal Nehru’s behest
    6).Santoor maestroPandit Shiv Kumar Sharma won theAditya Vikram Birla Kala Shikhar Awardfor lifetime achievement
    ·        The award was presented by the Governor of Maharashtra,C Vidyasagar Rao in Mumbai
    ·        Pandit Sharma emerged out as the master instrumentalist of the Santoor after starting his career as a vocalist
    ·        He is credited for making Santoor a popular Classical Instrument

    7). The BCCI decided to removeN. Srinivasan from the postICC Chairman nominate its recently-elected presidentShashank Manohar as the chief of the world body 
    ·        This decision was taken at the BCCI’s86th Annual General Meeting owing to the2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal in which Srinivasan’s son-in-lawGurunath Meiyappan was held guilty of betting charges
    ·        Although Srinivasan was not personally indicted for the damaging scandal but the Supreme Court-appointedR.M. Lodha committee had pointed on him not acting on the elements which corrupted the IPL
    ·        The tenure of Srinivasan was to end next year in theJune now the remainder of the term would be completed by Manohar as it is India’s turn to hold the top position
    ·        It was also decided that if in case Manohar cannot attend the ICC meetings thenSharad Pawar will be India’s representative

    8).TheCommittee of Eminent Persons (CEP) constituted by theIndian Institute of Technology (IIT) Council under the Chairmanship ofProf Ashok Misra to suggest reforms to theJoint Entrance Examination (JEE) submitted its report.
    The following are the key features of the report recommending changes in the structure of JEE shall be effected from2017 onwards
    ·        To set up aNational Testing Service to conduct an Aptitude Test, this should test the scientific aptitude and innovative thinking ability by early 2016
    ·        The Aptitude test may be offered2 or more times in a year and would be an online test
    ·        The testing shall test the scientific thinking and cannot be gained through coaching
    ·        Based on this performance, about4 lakh candidates shall be short-listed for taking the JEE
    ·        The JEE itself will be on the lines of the currentJEE (Advanced) and designed to test the knowledge in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics which will be conducted by the IITs
    ·        Ranks will be issued to40,000 plus students who can seek admission in IITs and NITs based on a common counseling 
    ·        The IITs will be requested to set up a system for developing mock JEE examinations which will help students prepare for the JEE
    ·        The possibility of using theMOOCS platform can also be explored. 
    ·        MHRD may take measures for the improvement of school education and the method of examination of the Boards, so that students with the Science aptitude are well prepared in the concepts by the time they reach 12th grade, without dependence on coaching institutions.
    ·        Till2016 and 2017, the practice of2 tier JEE examination shall be continued
