    1).Andhra Pradesh Government launchede-Pragati, a comprehensive architecture to leverage the latest advances in e-governance tools
    ·        It was previously known as theAP State Enterprise Architecture (APSEA)
    ·        The main objectives of e-Pragati Project are as follows
    a.   To provide an integrated one governance that will be citizencentric, transparent and effective
    b.   To bring together the following services offered by33departments and 330 government agencies of the state
                                         i.       Government to Business (G2B)
                                       ii.       Government to Citizens (G2C)
                                      iii.       Government to Employees (G2E)
                                      iv.       Government to Government (G2G)
    ·        E-Pragati was developed by theWipro
    ·        72 projects of various departments have been grouped under 14 packages in this project
    ·        Andhra Pradesh –1st state to India to execute and conceive statewide enterprise e-governance architecture

    2). Haryana’sFood and Drugs Administration announced the state government’s decision to ban gutka, pan masala and other similar products containing tobacco in the state for1 year
    ·        This ban includes the following actions
    a.   Manufacturing, distribution, storage and sale of products containing tobacco
    b.   Mixing of other ingredients like heavy metals and anti-caking agents
    ·        This ban was implemented due to the presence ofNicotinein the products containing tobacco
    ·        Nicotine is featured in the list of poison substances under theHaryana Poison Possession and Sales Rules, 1966

    3). Haryana Assembly passed theHaryana Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2015 to set matriculation as the minimum educational qualification for elections toPanchayati Raj Institutions(PRI)
    ·        Objective of the Bill are as follows
    a.   To improve the quality of leadership and governance in PRIs
    b.   To enable elected representatives of PRI to be more accountable to people
    ·        Features of the Bill are as follows
    a.  General candidates contesting the Panchayat elections should have10th standard certificates
    b.   ForGeneral category Women andScheduled Caste (SC) candidates8th standard mark-sheet is compulsory
    c.   For SC candidates the educational qualification is5thstandard
    d.   Candidates should not have been charge sheeted by any court
    e.   They must not be loan defaulters
    f.     The candidates contesting for PRI should have no arrears in the payment of power bills and should have functional toilets
    ·        Haryana –2nd state afterRajasthan to fix educational qualification for the candidates contesting in the Panchayat elections

    4).IndiaandBelarus have set the bilateral trade target as1 billion dollar by2018
    ·        Presently the bilateral trade between the 2 countries is around400 million dollars
    ·        Both the countries have decided to set up cooperation in the following sectors
    a.   Pharmaceuticals
    b.   Machinery
    c.   Energy
    d.   Fertilizer
    e.   Mining
    f.     Tourism
    ·        Both the countries to supply equipments fromBHEL for the reconstruction of theGrodno Power Plant – 2 , Belarus
    ·        They have agreed to facilitate business to business contacts to promote investment flow in both the countries
    ·        The decision was taken at the7th Session of the India-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission held in Minsk, Belarus
    ·        The meeting was chaired by the following dignitaries
    a.   Union Commerce and Industry Minister –Nirmala Sitharaman
    b.   Belarus Minister for Industry –Vitali Mikhailovich Vovk

    5). 7 Indians recognized in theNew Group of Philanthropists list of the 9th edition ofForbes Asia magazine
    ·        The list featured top philanthropists from13 Asia-Pacific region countries for their individual contribution to health and education sectors
    ·        The 7 Indians are as follows
    a.  Infosys co-founders namely,Nandan Nilekani,Senapathy Gopalakrishnan andSD Shibulal
    b.   Rohan Murthy – son of Infosys co-founderN. R. Narayana Murthy
                                                   i.       He has donated5.2 million dollars toHarvard University Press to promote ancient Indian literary classics
    c.   Sunny Varkey – founder ofGEMS Education based in Dubai with 70 private schools in 14 countries
                                      i.     He has pledged to donate half his wealth worth2.25 billion dollars as charity to theGiving Pledge Initiative led byBill GatesandWarren Buffet
    d.   Suresh Ramakrishnan andMahesh Ramakrishnan – London based Indian brothers and founders ofWhitcomb& Shaftesbury Tailors on London’s Saville Row
