    Name:Akash Missile
    ·        It was developed by the following 2 organisations as a part ofIntegrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP)
    a)   Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)
    b)   Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL)
    ·        May 2015 – it was inducted into Indian Army
    Features of Missile:
    ·        It is an indigenously developedsupersonic surface-to-air missile
    ·        It was manufactured using92% of indigenous machinery
    ·        It can be transported anywhere through road, water and air
    ·        It is a supersonic mobilemulti-target point andmulti-directional missile
    ·        It is capable to engage multiple air targets simultaneously using sophisticated multi-functional phased array radars
    ·        It is capable to neutralize the following aerial targets with a strike range of25km
    a)   Cruise missiles
    b)   Fighter jets
    c)   Air-to-surface missiles
    ·        It can also destroy aerial targets upto30km away at altitudes of18,000m
    ·        It is3 times faster than that of sound i.e., supersonic speed
    ·        It is capable to carry conventional warhead of60kg
    Induction of Akash Missile inIndian Air Force (IAF):
    ·        July 2015 – Akash Missile was inducted by Union Defence MinisterManohar Parrikar at a function held atMaharajpur Airbase in Gwalior
    ·        He handed over the symbolic key ofAkash Defense System (ADS) toAir Chief Marshal Arup Raha
    ·        8-squardons of ADS each consisting of the following will be inducted in IAF
    a)   2 – firing units
    b)   4 – launchers
    ·        Each launcher has a capacity to launch3-missiles in quick succession
    Name:Nag anti-tank missile
    ·        It is an indigenously developed3rd generationanti-tank guided missile
    ·        It was developed byDRDO under theIGMDP
    ·        It was successfully tested from the followingranges
    a)   Pokhran firing range
    b)   Integrated Test Range (ITR)
    ·        It can be integrated with the weapon carrying version of theAdvanced Light Helicopter (ALH) namelyDhruv
    ·        HeliNa – a helicopter launched version of Nag missile
    Features of Nag anti-tank missile:
    ·        The following are the operational ranges of the missile
    a)   Land version –500m to 4km
    b)   Air launched –7 to 10km
    ·        It is incorporated with an advanced guidance system namedActive Imaging Infra-red (IIR) seeker
    Testing of Nag missile from a helicopter platform:
    o  July 2015 – it was tested successfully from a helicopter platform
    o  Venue of test –Chandhan firing range inJaisalmer, Rajasthan
    o  3-round trial of HeliNa was conducted out of which2-rounds hadhitand1-round hadmissed the target
    Name:Amogha-I missile
    ·        It is an indigenously developed2nd generation anti-tank guided missile
    ·        This missile will be inducted into theIndian Army after due qualifications and validation trials
    Features of Amogha-I missile:
    ·        It was indigenously developed byBharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)
    ·        Target range –2.8kms
    Testing of Amogha-I missile:
    ·        10th September 2015 – Amogha-I was successfully test fired
    ·        Venue of Test –Babina Army Range, Madhya Pradesh
    ·        2-missiles were fired and both hit the targets placed at the following ranges
    a)   2.8 km
    b)   2.6 km
    ·        Both missiles were declared to have met alldesign parameters anddesigned path profile without any deviation
    Name:BrahMos missile
    ·        It is a supersonic cruise missile designed and developed byBrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture ofIndia andRussia
    ·        Its name is derived from the names of the following 2 rivers
    a)   India –Brahmaputra River
    b)   Russia –MoskvaRiver
    Features ofBrahMos missile:
    ·        It has top supersonic speed ofMach 2.8
    ·        It can strike a target at maximum range of290km
    ·        It is capable of carrying a warhead of300km and can be launched from the following locations
    a)   Ships
    b)   Land
    c)   Submarines
    d)   Sea
    e)   Sub-sea
    f)    Air
    ·        It is2-stage missile consisting of the following stages
    a)   1st – solid
    b)   2nd – ramjet liquid propellant
    Testing of BrahMos missile:
    ·        November 2015 –BrahMos, the supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired from the guided missile destroyerINS Kochi off the western coast
    ·        It was overall49thtrial of the BrahMos missile
    ·        It successfully hit decommissioned target shipAlleppey which was stationed290km away after performing high-level and complex maneuvers
    ·        This successful test makes INS Kochi another lethal platform ofIndian Navy
    ·        BrahMosbecame theprime strike weapon of INS Kochi ensuring its invincibility in engaging long range targets in seas
    Features ofINS Kochi:
    o  It is a7,500tonne indigenously developed warship commissioned into Indian Navy on30th September, 2015
    o  It can carry a total of16 BrahMos missiles in two8-cell vertical launch systems along with other modern weapons and sensors
    o  It has new design concepts for stealth, maneuverability and survivability
