• Initially, the joined candidates are appointed as Circle Based Officers and they will undergo a probation period of 6 months. 
• During the Probation period, CBOs are observed by various assessments to find their consistency. 
• If the candidates are qualified in the conducted assessment will be confirmed in the service of the Bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). 
• The selected candidates will not be entitled to inner-circle transfer up to their promotion to SMGS-IV Grade OR 12 years of service, whichever is later.

The SBI CBO can be regarded as a continuation of the SBI PO and both the profiles are similar in the nature of the work being done. The SBI CBO Roles and Responsibilities are as follows:

Managing Core Branch Functions

A candidate chosen as an SBI CBO will be primarily responsible for managing the core branch operations of the branch to which they are placed. These can include things like opening and canceling accounts, issuing chequebooks, etc.

Monitoring or Overseeing the bank operations

The SBI CBO is also in charge of directing the banking activities in the branch once posting is completed. These can include monetary inflows and outflows, closing fixed deposits, investing in mutual funds, purchasing life insurance, issuing debit/credit cards, etc.

Approving Loans

The approval of loans in a branch is one of the main duties and roles of an SBI CBO. These loans may be personal loans, gold loans, loans for consumer goods, company loans, and loans for cars or homes, among other forms.
