Solution:

1).Net salary = Basic salary + total allowance โ€“ total deduction
Total deduction = PF deduction (10% of basic salary) + Other deductions
= 10% of 21800 + 4720
= 2180 + 4720 = Rs. 6900
Net salary = 21800 + 28600 โ€“ 6900 = Rs. 43500
Answer:  b)

2).Let the basic salary of Q be Rs. x.
Total allowance of Q is Rs. (x + 3000).
Net salary = Basic salary + total allowance โ€“ total deduction
Or, 25850 = x + x + 3000 โ€“ 4350
Or, 2x = 25850 + 4350 โ€“ 3000
Or, 2x = 27200
x = 27200 / 2 = Rs. 13600
Total allowance of Q = 13600 + 3000 = Rs. 16600
Answer: d)

3).Let the PF deduction and other deductions of S be Rs. 7x and 13x respectively. Then, 10% of 11200 = PF deduction
Or, PF deduction = Rs. 1120
Other deductions of S = (13 / 7) ร— 1120 = Rs. 2080
Answer: b)

4).Basic salary of S is Rs. 11200
Basic salary of R is Rs. 10400.
Reqd % = [(11200 โ€“ 10400) / 10400] ร— 100
= (800 / 10400) ร— 100 = (800 /104)% = (100 / 13)% = 7(9 / 13)%
Answer: e)

5).Total deduction of T = PF deduction + 4000
Let the basic salary of T be Rs. x
Then, 5700 = 10% of x + 4000
Or, x / 10 = 1700
x = Rs. 17000
Net salary = 17000 + 21600 โ€“ 5700 = 38600 โ€“ 5700 = Rs. 32900
Answer: e)

6).Required ratio
X ร— (160 / 100) = Z ร— (155 / 100)
Or, X / Z = 31 / 32
X : Z = 31 : 32
Answer: e)

7).Let the expenditures be a and b respectively
Ratio = [a ร— (45 / 100)] / [b ร— (30 / 100)]
It does not give exact figure of amount
Hence cannot be determined
Answer: a)

8).Income = [Expenditure ร— (100 + profit%)] / 100
Let the expenditure of X and Z be k each
Ratio = (Income of X in 2011) / (Income of Z in 2011)
= [k ร— (160 / 100)] / [k ร— (165 / 100)] = 32 : 33
Answer: b)

9).Let the expenditure be Rs. k lakh
Then, k ร— (25 / 100) = Rs. 2.5 lakh
k = Rs. 10 lakh
Answer: c)

10).For company X
% profit = 45%
45 = [(3 โ€“ E) / E] ร— 100
E = 60 / 29
For company Z, % profit = 35%
35 = [(3 โ€“ E) / E] ร— 100
E = 60 / 27
Hence ratio = 27 : 29
Answer: a)

11).Average = (60 + 65 + 30 + 45 + 55 + 35) / 6 = 48(1 / 3)%
Answer: c)
