Abhimanyu Mishra (16 years), chess prodigy from the United States, defeated World Champion Dommaraju Gukesh (19 years) in Round 5 of Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) Grand Swiss 2025 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
With this, he became the youngest player to beat a reigning World Champion in classical chess, breaking Gata Kamsky’s 33-year-old record (defeated Garry Kasparov at 17).
