World Blood Donor Day takes place on 14 June each year. The Day was created to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and highlight the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems.

Mexico will host World Blood Donor Day 2022 through its National Blood Centre. The global event will be held in Mexico City on 14 June 2022. The theme for 2022, World Blood Donor Day slogan is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the headquarters of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) at Bopal in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

IN-SPACe, approved by the Union cabinet in June 2020, will be the nodal agency that will allow space activities and use of Department of Space-owned facilities by non-government private entities and ensure greater private participation in the sector.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the National Museum of Customs and GST “Dharohar” in Goa as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Iconic week of the Ministry of Finance, being celebrated from June 6 to 12.

The Indian government has decided to extend a Line of Credit (LOC) of USD 55 million to Sri Lanka for the procurement of Urea Fertiliser. This credit line was extended in response to an urgent request from the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL), amid the ongoing economic crisis.

This credit line will help Sri Lankan government secure urea fertilizer for the ongoing paddy sowing ‘Yala’ season. The support from India ranges from economic assistance of close to USD 3.5 billion to helping secure Sri Lanka’s food, health, and energy security by supplying essential items like food, medicines, fuel, kerosene, etc

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Chairman Dr. GR Chintala has launched the “My Pad My Right program”, in Leh. Under this unique project, award-winning sanitary pad-making machines will be installed through the network of self-help groups.

The program was launched by Nabard’s NabFoundation with machinery and materials at Seven and a half Lakh rupees. Dr. GR Chintala announced to sanction of One more lakh to upgrade the machinery to make sanitary pads suitable to the demands of women of different age groups.

NPCI Bharat BillPay, the wholly-owned subsidiary of National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI), announced that it has on-boarded CRED as a key agent institution (AI) to provide bill payment solutions to CRED users.

With this collaboration, CRED users can make recurring payments on utility bills including electricity, telecom, DTH, water and gas, education fees, municipal taxes, NETC FASTag recharge, loan EMIs, insurance premiums, subscription fees, and mobile prepaid recharge, among other payments by logging into the CRED app.

During the financial year 2021-22, the total profit of 12 state-owned banks was Rs 66,539 crore who was 110 percent of last year’s Rs 31,816 crore was excessive. For the first time in years, all 12 public sector banks made profits. This was also a significant improvement in FY18 when out of 21 public sector banks, just two declared profits.

SBI’s biggest net profit stood at Rs 31,675 crore, an increase of 55 percent over the previous year. The largest bank account in the country accounts for almost half of the profits of all public sector banks. SBI After, Bank Of Baroda PSBs with a net profit of Rs 7,272 crore earned 10% of the income.

According to a report jointly released by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) with PhonePe, India’s digital payments market is at an “inflection point” and is expected to more than triple to $10 trillion by 2026 from the current level of $3 trillion.

This growth would be driven by an increase in merchant payments, it added, as more and more merchants shift to QR (quick response) based payments in offline sales. The findings of the report exclude B2B (business-to-business) and G2B (government-to-business) transactions.

Chinese technology major Tencent has bought a stake worth $264 million (Rs 2,060 crore) in Walmart-owned Flipkart from co-founder Binny Bansal, through its European subsidiary. The government has banned some gaming apps including PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite, which were published by Tencent Group

Post the transaction, Tencent’s arm holds a 0.72% stake in Flipkart, which is valued at around $264 million, as per the last valuation of $37.6 billion disclosed by the e-commerce firm in July 2021.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched Anocovax, India’s first homegrown COVID-19 vaccine for animals, produced by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) in Haryana.

The vaccine uses Alhydrogel as an adjuvant and contains inactivated SARS-CoV-2 (Delta) antigen. It is also safe for dogs, lions, leopards, mice, and bunnies, according to the company. According to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the immunity elicited by Anocovax neutralizes both the Delta and Omicron versions of SARS-CoV-2.
