The Home Ministry in collaboration with the UN Women has flagged off an awareness campaign to end violence against women from Sultanpur metro station, Delhi.

The initiative is part of the #OrangeTheWorld global campaign. As part of the campaign, India’s single emergency helpline 112 was launched.

The 112 service can be reached through voice call, 112 India App, email, SMS, respective states 112 website and panic button on mobile phones.

The state of Telangana got its first ‘child-friendly’ police station at Medipally, Hyderabad.

The police station was designed and built in collaboration with NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

The child-friendly police station was decorated with wall paintings to make children visiting the police stations, comfortable and feel relaxed. In addition to this, the presence of books, toys and games in these rooms will aid in making the children less anxious.

The Assam Cabinet has approved the Arundhati scheme to provide 1 tola of gold (11.66 grams) free of cost to the brides’ parents belonging to the economically weaker sections (EWS) of the society whose annual income is below Rs 5 lakh irrespective of caste, creed, religion etc.

The aim is to reduce child marriage under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. This scheme can be availed by formal registration of the marriage under the Special  Marriage (Assam) Rules, 1954 at the time of marriage.

In addition to introducing affordable sachet-based insurance products, the insurance purchasing process has also been made simple for customers. Fino Payments Bank provides end to end digital customer enrolment process that takes only five to seven minutes to complete.

In September, Wing Commander Anjali Singh joined Indian Embassy in Russia as India’s first female military diplomat to be posted in any of the mission abroad.

Pakistan has successfully test fired a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile which can strike targets up to 650 kilometres. The launch was part of a training exercise aimed at testing the operational readiness of the Army Strategic Forces Command.
