Dear Readers, Here we have provided the list of Schemes launched by the government of India, which was most expected General Awareness Materials for Upcoming Bank PO/Clerk Mains Exams.

1.      Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana (VPBY)2017 – The Old Age Pension Scheme
  • This Scheme would be implemented by LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) for 2017.
  • From launch date, the scheme will be opened for the subscription period of one year.
  • The scheme will provide income security to old persons aged 60 years and above.
  • VPBY will provide an assured pension based on a guaranteed interest rate of 8% for 10 years.
  • The scheme will come up with an option of monthly/quarterly/half-yearly or annual basis .
  • The maximum amount to deposit under this scheme has not been mentioned, however PM had addressed in his New Year Eve speech that upto Rs. 7.5 lakh could be invested in Old Age  pension scheme.
2.      Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDSA) – Making Rural India Digitally Literate 8th Feb 2017.
  • This scheme aims to make 6 Crore rural households digitally literate by March 2019. The union cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister approved the scheme with an outlay of Rs. 2,351.38 for implementation till March 2019 under the Digital India Initiative.
3.      MUDRA Loan Scheme for Small and Marginal Fisherman
  • P M Narendra Modi announced this loan scheme for fisherman in a public meeting organized at Diu in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. The scheme is for those poor fishermen who are not able to buy modern type of boats due to lack of finance. The scheme will provide benefits to those who own small boats using which cannot go to the deep part of the sea and cannot catch enough fishes.
4.      Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) ‎June, 2015
  • This home loan scheme for middle income group (MIG) has been announced by the central government. The government has now included middle income group under the credit linked subsidy component of the scheme to provide interest subsidy on the housing loans.
5.      Power Tex India Scheme – Solar Plant Subsidy Scheme for Powerloom Sector

1 April, 2017
  • The government has devised a scheme named as “Solar Energy Scheme” to provide financial assistance and capital subsidy to loom weavers for implanting the solar energy plant to increase their production.
6.      Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)
  • Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is the renamed and revamped version of Matritva Sahyog Yojana under which government would provide Rs. 6000 financial aid to pregnant and lactating mothers for the first live birth.
7.      Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY)
  • PMVVY is a new pension scheme for senior citizens being implemented by LIC of India. The scheme follows the announcement of launch of pension scheme for senior citizens (Above 60 years of age) under which they would be provided an interest of over 8% for 10 years.
8.      Shadi Shagun Scheme
  • The scheme will provide financial assistance of Rs. 51000 as a wedding gift to girls belonging to Muslim community and who completes their graduation.
  • The aim of the scheme is to encourage Muslim girls for the pursuit of higher education.
9.      Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya)

 

  • Central government has launched Saubhagya scheme for electrifying all the households in rural and urban areas which are still living without power.
  • The government will provide Rs. 16,320 crore within next two years for the implementation of Saubhagya scheme.
10.  Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana (DDSY)

 

  • Government of India has launched Deen Dayal SPARSH (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby) Yojana Scholarship Scheme all over the country.
  • This is a Pan India scholarship scheme for those school children who have interest in philately. The objective of this scheme is to increase the reach of school children for philately.
11.  Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 1 May 2016
  • This scheme aims at providing LPG connection to all domestic households in Maharashtra to solve their problem of limited cooking fuel for regular use.
12.  Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat

  • PM introduced this scheme to strengthen the bond between all the states, regions, and districts of India.
  • This will involve a mandatory partnership between two states at a time and exchange of cultural and educational values between them.
13.  Urja Ganga 24th October 2016
  • This scheme Launched in Varanasi, this aims at providing cooking gas to all houses in the town of Varanasi and its neighboring areas along the banks of Ganga.
  • About 50,000 domestic households have benefited from the Urja Ganga till date.
14.  Uday Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN Scheme) 21st October 2016
  • This Scheme aims at providing affordable aviation by making domestic flight charges economically accessible for middle-class citizens of India.
15.  Railway Travel Insurance Scheme 1st September 2016
  • This scheme states that an insurance of 10 lakhs will cover each passenger traveling by Indian Rail while booking a ticket if an amount of 92 paise is paid. It aims at providing proper accident relief in case of any major mishaps.
16.  National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) 14 July, 2016
  • This scheme will focusing 50 Lakh Apprentices by 2019-20.
17.  Pradhan Mantri Gram Parivahan Yojana (PMGPY) 12 July,2016
  • Under the PMGPY scheme, the government would provide interest free loans to women self help group to buy commercial passenger vehicles. The scheme would be launched on the lines of ongoing rural scheme “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana”.
18.  Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan(PMSMA) 9 June,2016
  • Under the PMSMA, the pregnant ladies will be given free health check-up and required treatment for free on 9th of every month.
19.  Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

  • This scheme is to help Panchayat Raj Institutions deliver Sustainable Development Goals. This is proposed by Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley and total project takes 655 crores.
20.  Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) 17 September 2015
  • This programme meant to provide for the welfare of areas and people affected by mining related operations.
  • The most productive mining areas in the country are largely areas inhabited by scheduled tribes.
21.  PAHAL-Direct Benefits Transfer for LPG (DBTL) Consumers Scheme 01 Jan 2015.

  • To provide the subsidy money of LPG cylinders directly into the bank accounts of the consumers and increase efficiency & transparency in the whole system.
22.  Vikalp Scheme 01 Nov 2015
  • For confirmed accommodation in next alternative train for the waitlisted passengers.
  • Trains running on Delhi-Lucknow and Delhi-Jammu sectors.
23.  UJWAL Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) 20 Nov 2015
  • UDAY is the financial turnaround and revival package for electricity distribution companies of India (DISCOMs) initiated by the centre with the intent to find a permanent solution to the financial mess that the power distribution is in.
24.  Sagarmala Project 31 July 2015
  • To modernizing the existing ports into modern world class ports about Rs 70,000 crore for its 12 major ports only.
25.  Startup India, Standup India: 16 Jan 2016
  • To provide support to all start-up businesses in all aspects of doing business in India.
26.  One Rank One Pension (OROP) Scheme 6 sep 2015
  • provide same pension, for same rank, for same length of service, irrespective of the date of retirement.
27.  National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) 21 Jan 2015
  • Bringing together urban planning, economic growth and heritage conservation in an inclusive manner to preserve the heritage character of each Heritage City.
  • With a duration of 27 months (completing in March 2017) and a total outlay of INR 500 Crores, the Scheme is being implemented in 12 identified Cities.
28.  PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) 09 Mar 2015
  • To develop world class tourism infrastructure in Amritsar, Ajmer, Amaravati, Dwaraka, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Kedarnath, Kamakhya, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi and Vellankani.
29.  Swadesh Darshan Yojana: 09 Mar 2015
  • This scheme is to develop world class tourism infrastructure.
  • Identify and develop theme based tourist circuits based on interest, sustainability and competitiveness, by integrating resources and local participation of state and local communities.
30.  Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 24 June 2015
  • Providing basic services (e.g. water supply, sewerage, urban transport) to households and build amenities in cities which will improve the quality of life for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged.
31.  Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate Yojana (PDUSJY) 16 Oct 2014
  • This is to consolidate information of Labour Inspection and its enforcement through a unified web portal, which will lead to transparency and accountability in inspections.
32.  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) 25 July 2015
  • To achieve inclusive growth, by developing skills and productive capacity of the rural youth from poor families.
33.  Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY): 28 August 2014
  • Main objective is to access  financial services for all households in  the country
  • Individual above the age of 10 years and does not have  a bank account can open a bank account without depositing any money.
34.  Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (PMSSY): 22 Jan 2015
  • This scheme is to secure the future of girl child. Under this scheme, a saving account can be opened in the name of girl child and deposits can be made for 14 years.
  • After the girl reach 18 years of age, she can withdraw 50% of the amount for marriage or higher study purposes. After the girl completes 21 years of age, the maturity amount can be withdrawn including the interest rates decided by the Govt every year.
  • The max investment of Rs. 1.5 Lakh per year  while min deposit is Rs. 1000/- per year.
35.  Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY): 8 Apr 2015
  • This scheme is for financial support for growth of micro enterprises sector Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Yojana.
  • The small businesses/startups or entrepreneurs can avail loans from Rs. 50 thousand to 10 Lakh to start/grow their business.
  • Under this three categories are there, They are, Shishu, Kishore and Tarun.
  • loan upto Rs. 50,000 is given under  the sub-scheme ‘Shishu’
  • Rs. 50,000 to 5.0 Lakhs under the sub-scheme ‘Kishore’
  • 5 Lakhs to 10 Lakhs under the sub-scheme ‘Tarun’
36.  Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY): 9 May 2015
  • This scheme is to provide life insurance cover to all Indian citizens between the age of 18 to 50 years.
  • Under the scheme, the policy holder can get a life insurance cover of Rs. 2 Lakh with an annual premium of just Rs. 330 excluding service tax.
37.  Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY): 9 May 2015
  • This scheme is to provide accidental insurance cover to all Indian citizens between 18-70 years of age with a saving bank account are eligible to avail the scheme.
  • Under the scheme, the policy holder can get a life insurance cover of Rs. 2 Lakh with an annual premium of just Rs.12 excluding service tax.
38.  Atal Pension Yojana (APY): 9 May 2015
  • This scheme is to increase the number of people covered under any kind of pension scheme.This scheme administered by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
  • Its especially targeted to the private unorganized sector and is open to all Indian citizens between the age of 18 to 40 years.
  • Under the scheme, the beneficiary have to make contribution for at least 20 yrs before he/she can get pension after attaining the age of 60 years.
  • The scheme provides a monthly pension of Rs 1000 to Rs. 5000 per month based on their contribution amount.
39.  Pradhan Mantri Awas  Yojana(PMAY): 25 Jun 2015
  • This scheme is to achieve housing for all by 2022 (2 cr in Urban and 3 Cr homes in Rural areas)
40.  Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY): 11 Oct 2014
  • This scheme is for Social, cultural, economic, infrastructure developments in the villages, i.e. development of model villages called “Adarsh Gram”.
  • 3 villages by 2019 and 8 villages by 2024.
41.  Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): 11 Oct 2014
  • This scheme is to provide insurance cover to rabi and kharif crops and giving a financial support to farmers in case of damage of crops.
42.  Pradhan Mantri Gram Sinchai Yojana (PMGSY): 01 Jul 2015
  • This scheme is to irrigating the field of every farmer and improving water use efficiency to provide `Per Drop More Crop’.
  • The government has approved Rs.50,000cr for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana for next 5 years, i.e. up to 2020.
43.  Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY): Dec 2016
  • The main objective of this scheme is to improve the financial status of poor people.
44.  Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY): Mar 2016
  • This scheme is to provide drugs/medicines at affordable cost across the country.
  • Nearly 2.5 lakh stores will be opened in India.
45.  Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: 2 Oct 2014
  • The main objective of this scheme is to to fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India.
46.  Kisan Vikas Patra(KVP): 3 March 2015 (Re-Launched) Discontinued in 2011.
  • This scheme is to  provide safe and secure investment to the small investors. Kisan Vikas Patra is an investment scheme.
  • Kisan Vikas Patra certificates would be available in the denominations of Rs 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 and there is no upper limit on investment in KVPs.
  • The amount  invested in Kisan Vikas Patra would get doubled in 115 months .
  • The rate of interest is 7.5%. for Oct 2017 to Dec 2017
47.  Skill India: 16 Jul 2015
  • Main goal is to create opportunities, space and scope for the development of the talents of the Indian youth and to develop more of those sectors which have already been put under skill development.
  • The aim is to train over 50 crore youth of our country by 2020(covering each and every village).
48.  Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana: 22 Jan 2015.
  • Main goal is to create awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services for women.
49.  Mission Indradhanush: 25 Dec 2014
  • This scheme is to immunize all children as well as pregnant women against seven vaccine preventable diseases namely diphtheria, whooping cough (Pertussis), tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B by 2020.
  • The aim of Mission Indradhanush is to achieve full immunization.
50.  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY): 25 July 2015
  • The main objective is to provide electrification to all villages. Feeder separation to ensure sufficient power to farmers and regular supply to other consumers.
  • The earlier scheme for rural electrification viz. Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) has been subsumed.
