Answers:

Directions (1-5):

1) Answer: b)

I) 5x2 -16x +11 = 0

5x2 -5x-11x +11 = 0

5x (x – 1) -11 (x – 1) = 0

(x – 1) (5x – 11) = 0

X=1, 11/5

II) 5y2 – 3y – 2 = 0

5y2 – 5y+2y – 2 = 0

5y(y – 1) + 2(y – 1) = 0

(5y+2) (y – 1) = 0

Y = -2/5, 1

X ≥ y

2) Answer: d)

I) 9x2 – 26x +16 = 0

9x2 – 18x -8x +16 = 0

9x (x – 2) -8 (x – 2) = 0

(9x – 8) (x – 2) = 0

X= 8/9, 2

II) 3y2 -16y + 20 = 0

3y2 -6y-10y + 20 = 0

3y (y – 2) -10 (y – 2) = 0

(y – 2) (3y – 10) = 0

Y =2, 10/3

X ≤ y

3) Answer: e)

I) 12x2 +19x +5 = 0

12x2 +4x +15x +5 = 0

4x (3x+1) + 5 (3x+1) = 0

(4x+5) (3x + 1) = 0

X = -5/4, -1/3

II) 5y2 + 16y +3 = 0

5y2 + y+15y +3 = 0

Y (5y + 1) + 3 (5y + 1) = 0

(y + 3) (5y + 1) = 0

Y= -3, -1/5

Can’t be determined

4) Answer: c)

I) 6x2 + 31x + 35 = 0

6x2 + 21x + 10x + 35 = 0

3x (2x+7) + 5 (2x+7) = 0

(3x+5) (2x+7) =0

X= -5/3, -7/2

II) 2y2 + 3y + 1= 0

2y2 + 2y +y+ 1= 0

2y (y+1) +1(y+1) = 0

(2y+1) (y+1) = 0

Y= -1/2, -1

X < y

5) Answer: a)

I) x = √(20443- 4567)

X = √15876 = 126

II) y = ∛592704

Y = 84

X > y

Directions (6-10):

6) Answer: a)

Total number of women employees in the year 2013, 2015 and 2017 together in company A

= > 2500*(2/5) + 5700*(10/19) + 3900*(6/13)

= > 1000 + 3000 + 1800 = 5800

Total number of men employees in the year 2014, 2016 and 2017 together in company A

= > 3200*(5/8) + 4400*(5/11) + 3900*(7/13)

= > 2000 + 2000 + 2100 = 6100

Required % = (5800/6100)*100 = 95 %

7) Answer: c)

The total number of men employees of Company B for all the given years together

= > 3600*(4/9) + 2700*(2/3) + 4500*(5/9) + 4800*(1/3) + 5100*(9/17)

= > 1600 + 1800 + 2500 + 1600 + 2700 = 10200

The total number of women employees of Company C for all the given years together

= > 4200*(4/7) + 3500*(3/5) + 5600*(2/7) + 2800*(3/7) + 4400*(6/11)

= > 2400 + 2100 + 1600 + 1200 + 2400 = 9700

Required difference = 10200 – 9700 = 500

8) Answer: b)

The total number of women employees of company B in the year 2013, 2015 and 2017 together

= > 3600*(5/9) + 4500*(4/9) + 5100*(8/17)

= > 2000 + 2000 + 2400 = 6400

The total number of men employees of company C in the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 together

= > 3500*(2/5) + 5600*(5/7) + 2800*(4/7)

= > 1400 + 4000 + 1600 = 7000

Required ratio = 6400: 7000 = 32: 35

9) Answer: d)

The total number of women employees of company A in all the given years together

= > 2500*(2/5) + 3200*(3/8) + 5700*(10/19) + 4400*(6/11) + 3900*(6/13)

= > 1000 + 1200 + 3000 + 2400 + 1800 = 9400

Required average = 9400/5 = 1880

10) Answer: c)

Total employees of Company A for all the given years together

= > 2500 + 3200 + 5700 + 4400 + 3900 = 19700

Total employees of Company C for all the given years together

= > 4200 + 3500 + 5600 + 2800 + 4400 = 20500

Required % = [(20500 -19700)/20500]*100 = 4 % less
