  • To widen the market and foster adequate protection from healthcare expenses, insurance regulator IRDAI has removed the age limit of 65 years for individuals buying health insurance policies.
  • Shriram Finance Limited. (SFL), a non-banking financial company, has introduced a digital fixed deposit (DFD) scheme, along with a fixed income plan (FIP) and a recurring deposit, available exclusively through the Shriram One App and website.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 10 lakh on NABFINS Limited, a subsidiary of NABARD, for non-compliance with certain rules.
  • The World Bank is planning to provide a USD 1 billion line of credit to the State Bank of India (SBI) to accelerate India’s transition to clean energy, according to sources familiar with the development.
  • Digital financial services provider PayU has received in-principle authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a Payments Aggregator (PA) under the Payment Settlements Act, 2007.
  • Indian fintech major BharatPelaunched BharatPe One, an all-in-one payment product that integrates POS (point of sale), QR code, and speaker into one device.

  • India’s net direct tax collections grew 17.7% in 2023-24 to hit ₹19.58 lakh crore, marginally surpassing the revised estimates for the year, thanks to a surge in personal income taxes whose share of the tax kitty rose to 53.3% from 50.06% in the previous year while corporate taxes’ contribution dipped to 46.5% from 49.6%.
  • State-owned IFCI has received a capital infusion of Rs 500 crore through the issuance of equity shares to the government on a preferential basis.
  • Sustaining the economic growth momentum of 7 per cent in 2024-25 and beyond is feasible on the back of favourable monsoon, higher farm productivity and improved global trade, RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) member Shashanka Bhide.

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, is no ordinary land as it represents the sacrifice, valour and determination of Indian soldiers who serve in extremely harsh terrain and inclement weather to protect the motherland.
  • The Indian Army is undertaking two projects worth over Rs 6,800 crore to develop indigenous Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) systems.
  • The Indian Navy conducted Exercise Poorvi Lehar (XPOL) on the East Coast under the Operational Control of The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.

  • Juniper Green Energy has signed an agreement with Tata Power for the development of an 85-megawatt hybrid power project in Maharashtra.
  • Air India has entered into a codeshare partnership with Japan’sAll Nippon Airways.

  • India handed over the first batch of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines, signifying a major military export achievement.
  • The United States (US) space scientists unveiled the interplanetary probe National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plans to send to one of Jupiter’s icy moons as part of humanity’s hunt for extraterrestrial life.
  • InterGlobe Enterprises, led by Rahul Bhatia, has partnered with technology veteran C P Gurnani’s Assago to launch an artificial intelligence business venture called AIonOS.
