  • The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse & the theme is “People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention”
  • Every year, National Statistics Day is celebrated on June 29 in India & the theme is “Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals”.

  • Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ajay Bhatnagar has been appointed as Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

  • TPG India Investments II Inc sold its entire 2.65% stake, or 99.2 lakh shares, in Non Banking Finance Company (NBFC) Shriram Finance Limited for Rs 1390 crore through open market transactions.
  • Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd (HDFC) has sold 90% of its total stake in its subsidiary HDFC Credila Financial Services Ltd to a consortium of Baring PE (BPEA) and ChrysCapital for Rs 9,060 crores.
  • Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has reduced its stake in iron ore producer NMDC formerly National Mineral Development Corporation to 9.62% by selling a little over 2% stake for about Rs 649 crore.
  • Piramal Enterprises sold its entire stake of 8.34% in Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) major Shriram Finance through a block deal.

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out Exercise ‘Ranvijay’ with a focus on integration.
  • Indian Naval Ship (INS) Anjadip, the 3rd of the eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (SWC) Project, was launched at the Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Kattupalli Port, Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN).

  • The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) entered into a collaborative partnership aimed at empowering women to make well-informed career choices in the field of entrepreneurship.
  • Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd, TRIFED has collaborated with the Ministry of Ayush to supply 34,000 yoga mats.
  • US aerospace major, GE Aerospace, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian aerospace company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, to produce fighter jet engines for the Indian Air Force.

  • India and Belgium have signed Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLATs) in criminal matters which obligates both the countries to execute each other’s search warrants and summons against fugitives wanted by individual investigating agencies.
  • Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IBM to engage ex-servicemen and to facilitate their seamless integration into the civilian workforce.
  • The Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with computer storage chip maker Micron for setting up a USD 2.75 billion semiconductor assembly and test facility at Sanand in Ahmedabad district.

  • India’s first indigenous mRNA vaccine for the Omicron variant, GEMCOVAC-OM, developed by Pune-based Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd, was approved under emergency use guidelines by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding.
  • Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited successfully conducted the flight qualification test of the Raman-I engine, intended for roll attitude control in the Vikram-I rocket.
  • The Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) launched 47 Starlink internet satellites by Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, United States of America (USA).
  • In a significant advancement towards a sustainable and renewable fuel-based transport system, researchers at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur have successfully developed India’s first 100% Dimethyl Ether (DME)-fuelled tractor/vehicle with a mechanical fuel injection system for both on- and off-road applications.
