Explanation With Answers Key:
1). A)Total time = 210/(18+3) + 210/(18-3)
= 210/21 + 210/15 = 10 + 14 = 24 hours
2). C)Let the radius of the outer circle be R m.
And the radius of the inner circle be r m.
Then, according to the question,
2ᅲR — 2ᅲr = 88
Or, R — r = (88 × 7)/(2 × 22) = 14
or, R = 14 + r = 14 + 3.5 = 17.5 m
Now, area of the road = ᅲ(17.52 — 3.52) = 22/7 × 21 × 14 = 924m2
3). C)Marked price of the article = Rs.2400
Selling price = 2400 x (80/100) x (80/100) = Rs. 1536
4). A)Quantity of milk in the mixture
= 90 x (2/3) = 60 litres
Quantity of water in the mixture
= 90 x (1/3) = 30 litres
Let x litres water be added to the mixture.
Then,
60/(30+x) = 1/2
Or, x = 120 — 30 = 90 litres
5). B)Cost price of the article
= (3780 / Difference of percentage (20-15)) × 100
= (3780/5) × 100 = Rs. 75600
6). A)LCM of 20, 25 and 10 = 100 units
A can fill (100/120 = ) 5 units in one hour.
A can fill (100/25 = ) 4 units in one hour
Third pipe empties (100/10 =) 10 units in one hour.
In the beginning the tank filled by (A + B) in 8 minutes = 8 x (5 + 4) = 72 units
Third pipe empties 10 units every hours
Third pipe empties the tank in 72 minutes.
7). A)G   B  G  B  G   B   G
Number of Ways = 5! x 4! = 120 x 24 = 2880
8). C)Let the salary of A and B be 4x and 9x respectively.
Then, 9x x (145/100) = 33930
x = (33930 x100) / (9×145)= 2600
A’s salary = 4x = 4 x 2600 = 10400
9). A)The sum of 11 observations =11 x 82 =902
The sum of first five observations = 5 x 77 = 385
The sum of last five observations = 5 x 78 = 390
6th observation = 902 — (385 + 390) =127
10). A)given that P = Rs. 18500
T = 3 years
SI – Rs.6150
R = (6150 × 100) / (18500 × 3) = 11%
Now, CI = 18500 [1 + (11/100)]3 – 18500
= 18500 × (111/100) × (111/100) × (111/100) – 18500

= 25301.17 – 18500 = Rs. 6801.17
