A word and number arrangement machine when given an input line of words and numbers rearranges them following a particular rule in each step. The following is an illustration of input and rearrangement.

Input: 15  cmg  fps  30  26  mon  prb  11  bks  22  hkr  18

Step I: 60  cls  15  cmg  fps  26  mon  prb  11  22  hkr  18

Step II: 08  eoi  60  cls  15  fps  mon  prb  11  22  hkr  18

Step VI: 02  vxh  30  rts  09  lov  44  isv  08  eoi  60  cls

Step VI is the last step of the above input, as the desired arrangement is obtained.

As per the rule followed in the above steps, find out in each of the following questions the appropriate step for the given input.

 Input: cpg  17  19  dgb  39  mas  16  jmo  24  arm  gst  36

  5. None

Explanations

Solution (1-5)

  1. A

F like Iris.

Hence, option A.

  1. D

All the persons are facing north except B.

Hence, option D.

  1. B

E likes Red and C is 3rd to the right of E.

Hence, option B.

  1. D
    B likes Rose.

Hence, option D.

  1. C

Two persons sit between D and A.

Hence, option C.

A likes Daisy and B is 2nd to the right of A. As A likes flowers so A is facing south. One person sits between B and the one who likes Lily.

B A
Lily Daisy
South South

H is neighbor of A. So H is either immediate left or immediate right of A.

Case 1: If H is immediate right of A-

B H A
Lily Daisy
South South

F sits 2nd to the right of H who likes Black. H likes color so H is facing north.

B H A F
Lily Black Daisy
South North South

The number of person is between B and H is same as A and D. One person is between B and H so one person must be between A and D but in this case that cannot be possible so this case gets rejected.

Case 2: If H is immediate left of A-

B A H
Lily Daisy
South South

F sits 2nd to the right of H who likes Black. H likes color so H is facing north.

B A H F
Lily Daisy Black
South South North

The number of person is between B and H is same as A and D. Two persons are between B and H so two persons must be between A and D then A is 3rd to the right of A.

D B A H F
Lily Daisy Black
South South North

G is 2nd to the right of the one who likes Rose. As the one who likes Rose is facing south. Then G must like Lily and B must like Rose. C is 3rd to the right of E. The one who likes Brown is 2nd to the left of E. Then E is neighbor of B and C is neighbor of F and D likes Brown. C likes Pink. Now we know that E is facing north it means E likes Red and F likes Iris and facing south.

Here is the final arrangement:

G D B E A H C F
Lily Brown Rose Red Daisy Black Pink Iris
South North South North South North North South

Solution (6-10)

  1. A

Step VI: 07  sgy  34  ort  10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn

“07” is the smallest number in the last step.

Hence, option A.

  1. C

Step IV: 10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  17  mas  16  jmo

Two elements are between them.

Hence, option C.

  1. B

Step III: 48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  17  19  mas  16  jmo  gst

“09” is 3rd from the left end in step III.

  1. A

Step V: 34  ort  10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  mas  16

“19” is 3rd from the left end.

Hence, option A.

  1. C

Step II: 09  eri  78  bsn  17  19  dgb  mas  16  jmo  24  gst

Hence, option C.

In step I,

biggest number is selected and multiplied by 2.

E.g. = 39—39*2=78

Now word starting with alphabet appearing first in the dictionary is selected and all alphabets in the word are increased by 1 or are alphabets replaced by just following it in the alphabetical series.

E.g.=arm—bsn

Both the elements number and word are placed before the entire input.

Now in step II,

2nd biggest number is selected and sum of the both digits of the number.

E.g.=36—3+6=9

Now word starting with alphabet appearing second in the dictionary is selected and all alphabets in the word are increased by 2.

E.g.= cpg—eri

Now in the rest steps numbers will be arranging in alternative pattern like this and words will be arranged increased by 3, 4 and 5.

Input: cpg  17  19  dgb  39  mas  16  jmo  24  arm  gst  36

Step I: 78  bsn  cpg  17  19  dgb  mas  16  jmo  24  gst  36

Step II: 09  eri  78  bsn  17  19  dgb  mas  16  jmo  24  gst

Step III: 48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  17  19  mas  16  jmo  gst

Step IV: 10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  17  mas  16  jmo

Step V: 34  ort  10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn  mas  16

Step VI: 07  sgy  34  ort  10  kwx  48  gje  09  eri  78  bsn
