1). Advocacy (Noun) — वकालत

Definition: public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy.

Synonyms:  support for, argument for, arguing for, calling for, pushing for, pressing for

Antonyms: stoppage, discourage, protest.

Usage: his outspoken advocacy of the agreement has won no friends

 

2). Discriminatory (Adjective) — भेदभावपूर्ण

Definition: making or showing an unfair or prejudicial distinction between different categories of people

Synonyms: prejudicial, biased, prejudiced, preferential, unfair, unjust, invidious,

inequitable, weighted,

Antonyms: fair, impartial.

Usage: discriminatory employment practices

 

3). Stereotype (Noun) — टकसाली

Definition: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

Synonyms:  standard/conventional image, received idea, cliché, hackneyed idea

Antonyms: unconventional, original, fresh

Usage: the stereotype of the woman as the carer

 

4). Guardianship (Noun) — संरक्षकता

Definition: the position of being legally responsible for the care of someone who is unable to manage their own affairs.

Synonyms: protection, care, custody, trust.

Antonyms: unknown.

Usage: she was granted temporary guardianship of the three children

 

5). Drought (Noun) — अनावृष्टि

Definition: a prolonged absence of something specified.

Synonyms: absents, rare.

Antonyms: consistence, frequent.

Usage: he ended a five-game goal drought

 

6). Riveted (Verb) – जमा होना

Definition: fix (someone or something) so as to make them incapable of movement.

Synonyms:  fixed, rooted, frozen

Antonyms: flexible, trivial.

Usage: the grip on her arm was firm enough to rivet her to the spot

 

7). Sobering (Verb) — (अधिक) गंभीर बनना

Definition: make or become more serious, sensible, and solemn.

Synonyms: become (more) serious, settle (down), relax, soften, steady

Antonyms: calm, easy, facile.

Usage: his expression sobered her

 

8). Contingent (Noun) – दल

Definition: a group of people sharing a common feature, forming part of a larger group.

Synonyms: group, party, body, band, set

Antonyms: predictable

Usage: a contingent of Japanese businessmen attending a conference

 

9). Perhaps (Adverb) – शायद

Definition: used to express uncertainty or possibility.

Synonyms:  maybe, for all I know, for all you know, it could be (that)

Antonyms: unlikely, never, improbably.

Usage: perhaps I should have been frank with him

 

10). Slumped (Verb) — तेजी से गिरना

Definition: undergo a sudden severe or prolonged fall in price, value, or amount.

Synonyms: fall steeply, plummet, plunge, tumble, drop, go down, slide, decline

Antonyms: rise, soar

Usage: land prices slumped
