1). Apotheosised (Verb) — देवता मानना

Definition: elevate to, or as if to, the rank of a god; idolize.

Synonyms: dignify, elevate, ennoble, exalt, glorify, magnify, uplift.

Antonyms: diminish, decrease.

Usage: we had the feeling that Roosevelt had not so much died as been apotheosized

 

2). Dissent (Noun) — असहमति

Definition: the holding or expression of opinions at variance with those commonly or officially held.

Synonyms: disagreement, lack of agreement, difference of opinion, argument, dispute

Antonyms: agree, accept, approve.

Usage: there was no dissent from this view

 

3). Brutal (Adjective) — निर्दय

Definition: savagely violent.

Synonyms: savage, cruel, bloodthirsty, vicious, ferocious, barbaric, barbarous, wicked

Antonyms: gentle, humane

Usage: a brutal murder

 

4). Brutalised (Verb) – क्रूर होना

Definition: make (someone) cruel, violent, or insensitive to the pain of others by repeated exposure to violence.

Synonyms:  desensitize, dehumanize, harden, toughen, case-harden, inure, make unfeeling, make callous

Antonyms: peace, calm, polite.

Usage: he had been brutalized in prison and become cynical

 

5). Reprieve (Verb) — अवकाश देना

Definition: cancel or postpone the punishment of (someone, especially someone condemned to death).

Synonyms:  grant a stay of execution to, cancel/postpone/commute/remit someone’s punishment

Antonyms: charge, punish

Usage: under the new regime, prisoners under sentence of death were reprieved

 

6). Yearning (Noun) — तड़प

Definition: a feeling of intense longing for something.

Synonyms: longing, pining, craving, desire, want, wish, hankering, urge, need, hunger, hungering, thirst

Antonyms:  hate, despise, abjure.

Usage: he felt a yearning for the mountains

 

7). Preponderance (Noun) — प्रधानता

Definition: the quality or fact of being greater in number, quantity, or importance.

Synonyms:  prevalence, predominance, dominance

Antonyms: disadvantage, inferiority, surrender.

Usage: the preponderance of women among older people

 

8). Contingent (Adjective) — आकस्मिक

Definition: subject to chance.

Synonyms: chance, accidental, fortuitous, impossible, unforeseen, unforeseeable, unexpected, unpredicted

Antonyms: predictable.

Usage: the contingent nature of the job

 

9). Disbursement (Noun) — भुगतान

Definition: the payment of money from a fund.

Synonyms: payment, disbursal, paying out, laying out, spending, expending, expenditure, disposal

Antonyms: deposit, saving.

Usage: they established a committee to supervise the disbursement of aid

 

10). Ludicrous (Adjective) — ऊटपटांग

Definition: so foolish, unreasonable, or out of place as to be amusing.

Synonyms: absurd, ridiculous, farcical, laughable, risible, preposterous, foolish, idiotic, stupid, inane, silly

Antonyms: practical, realistic, responsible, full of common sense, reasonable,  rational, logical, sound

Usage: it’s ludicrous that I have been fined

 

11). Avert (Verb) — टालना

Definition: turn away (one’s eyes or thoughts).

Synonyms: turn aside, turn away, turn to one side

Antonyms:  aid, allow, assist, help.

Usage: she averted her eyes while we made stilted conversation
