1)  pastime (noun)शगल

Meaning: an activity that someone does regularly for enjoyment rather than work; a

hobby.

Synonyms: amusement, avocation, diversion, divertissement, distraction.

 Antonyms: tediousness, languor, ennui.

Usage:  Since Independence, the load on this national pastime has exponentially

increased.

 

2) lingering (verb) – लंबे समय के लिए स्थायी होना

Meaning: lasting for a long time or slow to end.

Synonyms: niggling, gnawing, lasting, residual, protracted, persistent, prolonged.

Antonyms: short live, leave, intermittent

3) Ameliorate (adj) – सुधारना

Meaning: make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better.

Synonyms: tweak, enhance, ease, redress

Antonyms: worsen, deteriorate,

undoubted source of comfort and relief.

 

4) Chastened (verb) – अपस्फीति करना

Meaning: (of a rebuke or misfortune) have a restraining or moderating effect on.

Synonyms: deflate, squash, mortify, subdue

7) reconnoitre (noun) – जांच या संवीक्षण

Meaning: make a military observation of (a region).

Antonyms: overlook, neglect

8) austere (noun) – गंभीर या सख्त ढंग

Meaning: severe or strict in manner or attitude.

Synonyms: distant, solemn,  unyielding, grim.

Antonyms: genial, friendly, lenient

Usage:  London Olympics, the austere post-war games that saw the English fill the

stands to the brim

 

 

9) fascism (noun)- रिश्तेदारी, निरंकुशता

Meaning: Fascism is a form of government that is a type of one-party dictatorship.

Synonyms: Kingship, depotism

Antonyms: communism, socialism

Usage: The first fascist country, Italy, was ruled by Benito Mussolini (Il Duce) until

10) clanging (verb)  – बजना

Meaning: make or cause to make a clang,
